7/17/15 Under new ownership and I have moved out of the area and only dined there once under new management so below review no longer applies.

This is without a doubt my most favorite restaurant in Marin.
After not having been there for a few weeks due to so much summer activity I decided to try the $3.95 breakfast that was excellent 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon and 2 pancakes. Though the wait person could have had an attitude due to the low priced breakfast.... she was gracious and welcoming even with a sizable crowd.
I then decided I had to go for dinner ASAP and ended up going that same evening.
Quality of the ingredients, assembly, preparation and and presentation are second to none. The only other Italian restaurant that even comes close is Poggio in Sausalito at twice the price. The servings are also reasonable, not your feed the world proportions, although large enough they can be split. That evening I had the best Burrata cheese on Crostini with diced tomato and just the right amount of garlic. The other dish for the evening was the spinach and chicken salad. Suffice to say another home run with a spectacular balsamic dressing and bits of bacon. Their wine list is very thorough and there are many excellent values.
The servers are all top notch and friendly and willing to provide guidance on both food and wine.
Almost forgot the Affogato (Vanilla gelato with a shot of espresso and topped with whipped cream) is to die for.
Some of the reviews on Yelp are from Jan 2008-Jan 2011 when the business was run by the previous owner who was not as adept as the founders. One of the founders took ownership back in June 2011 and is the reason it has once again become a 1st...
Read moreFather's Day brunch. Passing through from San Francisco going up north. Ordered from brunch menu and checked prices, typically do to get idea of total cost. Husband paid so didn't check receipt until already on road...figure mistakes are not made on order charges..but we were overcharged!! Phoned restaurant, spoke to a person with a heavy accent, explained overcharge. He then asked me to hold and transferred me to a woman. Explained again about overcharge. She asked who server was but not indicated on receipt so gave her a number listed at bottom. She said please hold and aferr about 30 seconds someone hung up the phone. Called back and again a hispanic accent person (I am hispanic so recognize accent). Explained I was on hold and he asked why I was calling. Tried to explain woman was already trying to help but he didn't seem to understand so I spoke to him in Spanish explaining the situation. He returned, in his heavy accent that he did not understand my lwhat I was saying. I began repeating the overcharge and asked if I was outside or inside the restaurant. I told him I was already on the road. He said they were busy, to call back at 3pm. I was about to ask his name when he hung up.
Agree with most reviews, service slow. Told a server I was ready to order and she said she could not take orders but would let "them know." Waited at least 3 min no one came so we asked another server again. Later a server came and asked if I wanted a refill on coffee but he only had regular and I said decaf please. He never came back. We had to ask another server. Food was okl but oil swimming all over plate.
DISAPPOINTED...doubt...
Read moreBeen twice. Huge menu. 1st time, dinner. Ordered bottle of wine. Owner, Abe,came our table to open it. I jad stuffed Petrale Sole w/ asparagus. To die for. One of my friends had scallop rissoto. Ot was good but a little heavy, sticky. The seafood was fresh. Other friend had ravioli. He loved it. 2nd time : They serve breakfast at lunchtime; at least on Saturdays I had 2 appetizers, the artichokes , the shrimp. They were good. My friend had their roasted red pepper soup & a meatball sandwich. The soup was incredibly good; not too heavy. And the SANDWICH was delicious. They make their own meatballs. It's not loke a sub sandwich. It's this really good meat. The bread is a panini. Different, right? Well it was perfect. The meat was outstanding. I was surprised 'cause I'm not into meat that much. I had 2 glasses of Cava. I was thrilled that they had Cava. So much better than the trendy Prosecco &...
