Hungry Howie's Pizza — Restaurant in Novi

I'm not mad, just disappointed.

Let me start by saying that I don't think I have ever once posted a review on anything, ever, because nothing has ever bothered me enough to make it known online, until now.

This place definitely has great pizza and bread, no doubt! But the wings always end up leaving me sad and wondering why I bothered to order them again.

The first time we ordered the barbecue wings, we were excited, expecting delicious saucy nugs, like the photos online suggested. Instead we got small wing pieces with a glob of sauce at the bottom of the serving tray and maybe each wing was touching some part of said sauce glob. I was sad, but figured maybe somebody was in a rush or having a bad day. Ok, no problem. Order them again, expecting the next time it will be different. NOPE. No saucy nugs. Same sad sauce glob and naked nugs. Ok, maybe they just don't have a good saucing process. I can deal. Finally said, ok let's just get plain wings and sauce them ourselves at home! Lo and behold, even worse than before, ended up with the saddest tray of tiny pieces of what could only be described at breading pieces from the bottom of the bag?

To Hungry Howies credit, they were willing to provide a credit for new nugs next time, but I'm afraid it will end up the same.

If you want delicious bread and pizza, this place is definitely the place to go! But if you want delicious saucy nugs, I highly recommend seeking alternatives.

This place extremely disrespectful. I went in to get a job and the manager (Sean) gave me a huge packet to fill out with all my SS, insurance, birth certificate etc. He then told me I got the job and they will call on Monday with my schedule. After a few days, I got no call so I went in and the manager (Sean) told me they were moving some people around and that in the next week he would call with my schedule. After waiting another week I went back in and again (Sean) then told me sorry but we are fully hired right now. There was not even a courtesy call to tell me I no longer got the job. I then called to confront Sean about it and he was extremely disrespectful and told me that maybe next time I "should fill out the application properly" even though I had seen him twice since I turned it in and he had not brought up any problems with it. I said I will be following up with the owner and he said "well the owner will not be contacting you". I'm extremely upset because I wasted two weeks in which I could of looked for another job, after being ASSURED the job. I went in 2 times to check on the status and he kept saying they will be calling with my schedule soon. When I called to complain Sean was extremely rude basically telling me it's not his fault I don't know how to fill out an application, though he had no problems with it until now. Did you know that at Hungry Howie’s, you cannot get a refund if your pizza isn’t made correctly? Just a tip, make sure to check your pizza before you pay. I learned this the hard way on New Year’s Eve.

I went to the Novi location hoping for a relaxing night with some comfort food, but things took a disappointing turn. I ordered "The Works" pizza with Cajun crust, and it came out overcooked so dark it was almost burnt. When I asked them to remake it, I was told that all the pizza comes out that way and there was nothing they could do about it. I don’t like well-done pizza so I asked for a refund, but they told me they couldn’t give me one.

I was shocked! If something isn’t made the way I like it, I would expect to at least have the option of a refund. Corporate confirmed this policy, which is just baffling to me. Ultimately, I had to settle for changing my order, but it wasn’t what I truly wanted.

Hungry Howie’s needs to revisit its refund policy because this left me very dissatisfied. I won’t be returning to the Novi location anytime soon.

Update: After speaking with Josh, the GM I want to amend my review. He reached out to me on New Year's Day to address the situation and offered to personally remake the pizza to ensure it met my expectations. I appreciate his prompt response and willingness to make...
