Came here on a Wednesday morning and they were pretty busy considering it was the middle of the week. The restaurant is small, and because they are enforcing social distancing, seating is very limited; 6-7 groups will max out the restaurant. Shortly after being seated, we were given a sanitized tablet that you need to enter your personal information so they can do appropriate contact tracing if need be. I also noticed they're very diligent about cleaning/sanitizing every table after the group eating there leaves. I respect that they are doing what they can to keep their customers safe during these times.
Service was fantastic: they constantly checked on us, refilled our water and asked if we wanted more coffee.
My wife and I both ordered corned beef hash patties with fried rice and eggs, and we shared a full stack of banana pancakes. The fried rice was sweet and delicious, and the corned beef patties were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, but one was a tiny bit burnt which made it taste a little bitter.
The main reason I took off a star is because they've definitely reduced their portion sizes. I've been eating at Times my whole life, and their portions have usually been HUGE, until now. It's particularly noticeable with the fried rice. It disappoints my inner fat boy. I was also disappointed that all three of my over easy eggs were already popped upon arriving to the table. Not a huge deal, but I like to move them over on top of my rice before breaking the yolks.
Times Cofffee Shop has always been a favorite breakfast choice here in Kailua and I'm happy to help support them in these trying times. Will...
Read moreGot a blueberry Belgium waffle and steak and eggs with upgrade fried rice. (Sorry no pic of waffle) Waffle came out cold. :( We asked for strawberry jam x3 times for our toast but was ignored and we heard the waitress says to each other that we didn’t ask for it, after we asked a 4th time. The steak came out done and not medium rare, but it tasted good so we didn’t complain. The service was slow and had to wait awhile for our waters to be refilled. The fried rice is bomb tho
This was the second day in a row we came here to eat breakfast and I can tell you that it’s not consistent. The day before the food was hot, service was excellent, and everything went great(could’ve been cuz it was a holiday so they were busy with extra staff idk).
Also they charge more for extra stuff and for sides of items compared to other breakfast places, but...
Read moreThis is like that place you and your buddies would always talk about when you were younger. The interior decor is absolutely nothing to write home about, but you’d be sorely mistaken if you let that influence what you thought about the quality of their food, which is quite good.
My favorite is the Poco Loco Moco, which reminds me of lots of my dad’s Thai cooking with white rice, fried eggs and pork on top with a tasty sauce.
The only reason I give this place four stars is because the interior really isn’t all that nice. But the food is a five-star experience and as a Kailua local this is a place that I come to with some regularity. Certainly not a bad option for tourists either if you’re looking for a more authentic,...
