Hawaii Pot Shabu Shabu House — Restaurant in Oʻahu

I was really looking forward to trying the fried ice cream at this restaurant, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The first one I received was a complete mess—the outer shell was soggy and falling apart, and the ice cream inside was already melting.

To their credit, the staff offered a replacement, which I appreciated. However, even the second attempt wasn’t much better. It seemed rushed, and the crispiness I expect from fried ice cream just wasn’t there. For a dessert that’s supposed to be indulgent and satisfying, this was disappointing.

While the effort to fix the issue was nice, the execution of the dish left much to be desired. I’d hesitate to order it again or recommend it to others.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, I noticed a cockroach crawling on the wall near our table. It was absolutely disgusting and made me lose my appetite entirely. Cleanliness is a basic expectation, and seeing that really made me question the restaurant’s hygiene standards.

Nice and clean dining area, about 7-8 tables that seat 2-6. Can choose personal pot or family style. Buffet includes meats, a variety of other trayed goodies such as meatballs, fish balls, seafood, sausages, and fresh veggies like bok choy, choy sum, won bok, a variety of mushrooms, and other greens. There are also a variety of dipping sauces to choose from. We enjoyed our meal, the service was good and timely. We will come back again. Price is average for a buffet. Always come here! It's wonderful. I love the one and done price and it's so reasonable especially since you get 4 types of quality meats included in the price, along with a quaint selection of veggies and add ons. It's so nice, especially with the personal hot pot. Cons, not many! They only thing I'd say is staff isn't super personable and you have to get their attention most of the time, and the selection isn't crazy! But it's so worth the price, and add on of unlimited soft drink for $1? Yes please. They also give free refills on Soup if it starts boiling out!
