Our standby breakfast every time we come to Hawaii. We have to have it just once. Execution was what we expected, consistent and basic. We ordered & paid on the kiosk and our meals were brought to our table in the dining area by an employee. She was robotic, not smiling, and didn’t say a word even when we thanked her. I suppose this is where service is heading these days. At least the dining area was clean and they have a great location adjacent to the Marriott next door and within walking distance to the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Years ago, I read somewhere that Hawaii was the only place in the US where one could get the fried apple pies of old. As we passed it this Hawaiian McDonald's, I remembered this fact and stopped by the drive-thru. While the pies seem to have a stronger red hot cinnamon taste than I recall, it was nice to be able to share this experience of old with my children. Hate that you have to travel to Hawaii to get the chance though. We also tried the fried Haipia pie.

Lobby is always closed. Covid restrictions are over. Only one of the two drivethru lanes open and no icecream products. If you ask for fresh fries it’s like they re- dunked in the oil from the cold ones as they are burnt and crispy. SLOW service. Line of cars wraps down the street. This used to be a good running place. Open the lobby up so the drive thru line goes down not rocket science.

Worst McDonalds I have ever been to! We placed an order to be picked up at the front counter on the app. For some reason, the app let us place the order even though inside the restaurant was closed. When we got there, the front doors were locked. No big deal, we decided we would just go through the drive through to get it. The guy at the order screen was SO rude. One of the things he told us was that we shouldn't have ordered for pickup inside because the inside was closed (How would I know that when the app said it was open???). I have had a bad experience with that same worker multiple times so he definitely wasn't just having a bad day. We contacted McDonalds support about it but I'm sure nothing will be done.

On top of this, this is the only McDonalds I have ever been to that doesn't allow soft drink refills. Also, there have been multiple reports from credible sources suggesting that the owner and managers may treat individuals of certain racial backgrounds unfairly.

Avoid this place...

Not a big fan of McDonald’s so I’m in a base my five star rating on McDonald’s as a whole not on it as a eating experience versus other burger or breakfast places came here on Fourth of July morning around 9:30 no lines able to order the kiosk, smoothly and effectively food came out hot and ready to go Nice to be able to get a spam in Portuguese sausage breakfast and still be able to get the sausage egg McMuffin that is so common clean facility inside and out friendly staff, although I only needed to use the kiosk to order. Since this is close to BYU, Hawaii and The church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints Temple I can imagine that this place can get busy, so I think it’s probably a bit of a role of the dice on how busy this location can get

I’d strongly encourage to use the app as a way to be able to order ahead of time and just grab the food once...

This is literally the best McDonald's I have been to in my entire life! Everything from this restaurant taste different than the McDonald's food I get back at the mainland. The fries taste different then the French Fries in Washington, the burgers taste different then the burgers in Washington, even the produce on our sandwiches taste like a much better quality. I don't know what it is about the magic of Hawaii but if you go to a restaurant that we have on the mainland that is here in the Islands, the food will taste way better here in Hawaii. Don't know if it's the oil they used or if they actually have better quality food than we do in the states, but it's a way better McDonald's than anyone you will go to in the states. The menu here caters to the island life also. You can get spam and rice for breakfast here in Hawaii! It's pretty exciting...
