I came across several social media posts raving about this place, and decided to give it a try. We dined in; the atmosphere was nice, and the staff was very attentive and polite. We ordered several items on the menu to eat. The chicken fried rice was as expected; they gave decent portions for that dish, but honestly, there weren’t a lot of pieces of chicken - mostly rice and a few vegetables, so the price tag of $17.95 was perplexing. The 3 summer rolls ($12.00) were rubbery and hard to chew. The peanut sauce that came with it was watery and had too much of a vinegar taste, which took away from the creamy peanut flavor that wasn’t present. The 4 spring rolls were nice and hot, and we enjoyed that dish ($13.00). The seafood saimin bowl ($18.95) was, in my opinion, expensive for what it contained - mostly rubbery calamari and a few pieces of insipid shrimp. The only good thing I can say about that dish is that the broth and noodles were flavorful.
Now, let’s get to the nitty-gritty. The entire reason why I wanted to give this place a try was because of the beef back ribs Phở. The beef was fall-off-the-bone tender, which I appreciated, but honestly, the broth of the Phở was not at all tasty - there was no rich, savory, and aromatic broth, no balance of warm spices and umami flavors. I’ve eaten at quite a few places that serve Phở, and I was unfortunately disappointed here. I did not even finish my meal and decided to take it home to jazz it up because it needed help. Also, the price, coming in at $24.95, was, in my opinion, not worth it; it could have been if the true Phở flavor was there, but it wasn’t for me. So, with that said, I’m leaving this review at its face value.
All I can say is that I gave this place a chance, and I'm not returning. I will be saving my money to try another establishment. I’m also not trying to discourage anyone from giving it a go. These statements were based on my and my family’s experience here. The staff is super friendly and nice, the atmosphere is chill and comfortable, the food is just okay but the prices are not. By the way, I did leave a very decent tip for the waiter who served us because he was kind...
Read moreMy family & I got: pork belly bahn mi, spring rolls and 2 steak phos. We spent $62 and some change. Pho was mid, spring rolls were nice and fresh and the Bahn mi was perfect. The place is pretty pricey in my opinion and I think people overhype their broth for sure esp after trying other pho spots on island. Customer service was decent as our server was nice and checked on us here and there but when I asked for extra lime and onions I didn’t get “extra” and the I got the vibe that it was too much for him to get me more so I didn’t bother asking again. We had to ask for water (not sure if you have to ask but most spots usually give water after being seated).
Pro tip— I was told they basically close at 8:30pm not 9. So if you come anytime between 8-8:30 you will feel rushed because they start cleaning up everything right before 8:30. To me if your business claims to close at 9, at least accept people around 8:30-8:40. But it was clear they wanted to be out the...
Read moreLocated off Farrington Highway, we came for their pho with beef ribs. It is a must try! Beef was so tender and was falling off the bone. One of the only spots I've been to that has mastered the pho with beef ribs. Broth is hearty and rich and so comforting. The Pho with beef ribs is just over $25 but well worth the money as they give you two ribs with lots of meat. They also have beef ribs with ramen as well. Will have to try that next .
Comfy setting and nice ambient interior.
Lots of free parking in the...
