Rocco’s Pizza and Italian Kitchen — Restaurant in Oak Park

Aug 2024 - ordered a pizza a few weeks ago; it was decent but yet disappointing at the same time; I ordered several toppings which included an extra cheese blend; I called in the order and even clarified that the cheese blend item would be in addition to the mozzarella cheese base, and was told yes it is; so, that should be a really cheesy pizza, right? Unfortunately it wasn't. The amount of cheese was not even adequate for a reg pizza, let alone asking for addnl cheese. Plus, it was missing the mushrooms I asked for. I most likely would have given the pizza a higher rating if the cheese would have been what I ordered because you could tell the other ingredients were quality. I just wish more care would have been used in making the pizza and not be so chintzy on the cheese, especially because this pizza is pretty pricey. I eat a lot of pizza. I eat a lot of pizza from everywhere any where. Ive tried every pizza in Detroit, and have had a lot of pizza in the burbs. Living in the city for a decade, for rounds, Supinos was always my default option. They make an excellent pie. Some come close, but lack that quality and attention to detail. I moved out of the city to F-Dale... drove by this spot and gave it shot... Yall, this pizza absolutely slaps. Ive showed every friend in the city this spot including restaurant owners, food critics, and industry people and they all unanimously agree, Roccos is a juggernaut of a pizza. We're lucky to have access to round pizza of this calibre. Im going to come clean and go as far as saying, Roccos is the best round in both Detroit and the burbs. Im really not exaggerating. I had heard about Rocco’s on the news. They were talk f about how amazing the pizza is. Tonight, my husband and I stopped in to grab a few slices (we didn’t order in advance). The pizza place was spotless. There are windows facing the street of the people making the pizzas right in front of you. Everything was very transparent! The young lady at the front counter, Reema, was very friendly and helpful. Once we got home, we could hardly wait to eat our pizza slices. The pepperoni slice was legitimately the best. I was in pizza heaven. My biggest regret was not ordering an entire pepperoni pizza. My husband had a unique slice with hot honey, some sort of salami. Jalapeño and fresh mozzarella.
