My brother and I ordered carry out for the first time this evening. We both got Shawarma dinners. I got beef and my brother got chicken. We spent $32 for the two dinners which came with meat, rice, side salad, and a large bowl of curry stew. There's enough food that we both have enough meat and rice for two meals. The beef had little crispy spot which I really liked and the flavor was very good. The rice was nice and buttery and had good seasoning. The ranch dressing had a zesty taste which I really enjoyed. The salad was very fresh and came with cucumbers and tomatoes. I've never had curry stew before, so I have nothing to really compare it with, but It was very hearty and flavorful. The meals also came with a good amount of pita bread slices.
I for sure will be back and I'm so happy that it's within walking distance from where I live.
Service wise, the gentleman there were super friendly and very appreciative for coming in and ordering. They are still working on getting their POS system in, so they were only taking cash or cashapp, but they are supposed to have it up and running soon. No...
Read moreI ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and a maza tray from here. The sandwich was a bit of a let down—not much chicken—it was kind of sparsely filled. The maza tray, on the other hand, was fantastic! Everything was delicious and tasted homemade. My friend commented that the grape leaves were “a little mushy, but tasted great.” When I tried one, it was clear to me that they were freshly made the right way. The rice was SOFT, not crunchy, like so often happens. They were loosely stuffed in a very nice way; tender and bursting with flavor. The baba was smoky and a bit thin. Absolutely delicious. Perfect hommous. Perfect falafel. Excellent fattoush. I almost NEVER like tabbouleh, but this one was delicious.
The restaurant was quiet when I went to pick up my order. It seems like a great family restaurant. Not a lot of whistles and bells as far as decor or ambiance goes. It’s all about the quality of their food and their excellent service. Friendly, excellent service. Great stuff. I’ll be back. Let’s blow this place...
Read moreWe customized the Family Tray Combo for five, swapping the chicken kafta kabob and tikka for extra chicken cream chops with tender beef shawarma. Shredded just right with smoky spices, the shawarma paired perfectly with the crispy, lemony fried chicken. Sides included fresh house salad with tomatoes and cucumber and a cucumber salad mix. Pickled turnips and onions added nice crunch (on the side). It fed our five with leftovers, ready in about 25 minutes for pickup. Easy subs, veggie options, and great value (entrees $16-23). Pro tip: Try their ranch dressing for a creamy kick. Interior is very simple and clean. Yummy Shawarma gets 5 stars. Oak Park’s top spot for...
