Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Oak Ridge

I absolutely adore Jimmy John's! How can anyone resist the allure of their fresh subs, prepared in less time than it takes to admit defeat in a staring contest against a goldfish? However, I must admit that my most recent visit to my local JJ's was not as enjoyable as I had hoped. It happened on a seemingly ordinary spring Tuesday in May, around noon. To my dismay, we encountered a level of service that was slower than Firehouse Subs! Those who have endured the agonizing wait at Firehouse Subs can truly understand how bad it was. It wasn't because they were overwhelmingly busy; rather, the two individuals constructing our sandwiches seemed to be moving at the speed and enthusiasm of Flash Slothmore in Zootopia. I'm not exaggerating even a bit! Each smear of mayo took what felt like an eternity. I found myself rubbing my eyes and pinching myself, half expecting to wake up from a slow-motion dream or realize I was having a stroke. The preparation of three sandwiches alone took nearly 12 minutes, a time span shorter than the duration of actually consuming the subs.

On the bright side, the service was accompanied by smiles, albeit slow ones. So, I won't deduct any points for that.

Now, I'm not particularly strict about uniforms, but the person in charge of our order was wearing overalls with one strap hanging down—a far cry from the clean, crisp JJ's image.

Oh, and to top it off, my cookie tasted as stale as the French fry that had fallen between my car seats six months ago.

Come on, JJ's... You can do...

Outstanding sub shop! Service has always been amazing and the subs are the absolute best. I’m rating 5 stars because of these reasons because I do love Jimmy Johns.

However, interestingly enough I noticed that they do not have their hours posted on their door or anywhere inside. Hmmm! Chatting with them while my food was being prepped they told me that they close at 10pm and open whenever the bread is ready so it’s best to just watch for the open sign. I pointed out that doesn’t really help me if I don’t know generally when to expect it to possibly be open by. Is it around 6am, 9am, 11am, what? 👎

I get her point that they would open early if bread was prepped but some general hours with a disclaimer underneath would be helpful for the public. She kindly said she would pass along my suggestion to Jimmy John himself. 👍

Again, outstanding customer service and food so still worthy of a 5 Star review....

For this location only 5 stars. They always take care of me and my family. They make sure everything they use and touch is fresh, they keep all my food off the counter to make sure there is no cross contamination as I have celiac disease and have to be gluten free. This is the only location to do this for me and the only location that NEVER complains about pulling a fresh batch of tomatoes from under the counter, digging to the middle of the meats and cheese just to be sure it's safe for me, the only location to be happy to do it, smile and have a real conversation with me as they're preparing my food. Best of all, it's been a few months since I've been in to order..... they remembered me and my usual order!!! I couldn't remember what my family normally orders, long day in retail for all of us no one wanted too cook. These guys remembered me and what my family orders down to what goes on...
