We keep giving this place a chance. But I hate to say this was probably the last time.
We got fried pickles And then the bacon blue burger with fries And the chicken club with the Parmesan broccoli.
I asked for the grilled chicken on the chicken club to be tossed in buffalo sauce.
They were busy. There was a bit of a wait but not bad. The pickles came out first. They were hot and fresh and yummy.
Then, I think it was the cook came out asking did I really want buffalo sauce on the grilled chicken because they normally buffalo the fried chicken and it may not stick well to the grilled chicken. And I told him yes, I understood it is grilled chicken. Just toss it buffalo sauce. He then asked again, you want the grilled chicken. I said yes. I guess that's where the confusion started
After a bit the chicken sandwich and broccoli came out. Then the burger came out a few minutes later.
The burger was good. The fries were warm like they had sat a while.
The chicken on the sandwich was not tossed in buffalo sauce like I asked. And the broccoli was cold with a clump of something cold like butter and Parmesan cheese? I was just going to let it go until I bit into the chicken sandwich. The chicken had no flavor at all.
That was when the waitress walked up and asked if everything was ok. I told her, sorry but no, not it's not ok. I just wanted some buffalo sauce on the chicken and it's not there even after someone actually walking out and asking me was I sure I wanted buffalo sauce on the grilled chicken. And I asked her what is this clump of stuff on the broccoli and she said ooohhh I don't know.
I asked her to send it back please.
And then I waited.
Let me tell you Jesse our waitress was a rockstar. She was determined to make it right. We need more Jesses. I watched her carry my plate into the kitchen.. then she proceeded to carry my plate all over the restaurant.. up the stairs to the managers office, to the front, around back. She apologized and said she was looking for the manager.
Finally the hostess? I think? Came up and asked me did I just want buffalo sauce or do they need to remake my food? Well, since I've just watched my food be walked around the whole restaurant, would you please remake my food?
So she disappeared into the kitchen then came back and wandered around the restaurant like our server had. She was doing everything she could to make it right.
So I sat there and R finished his blue burger and now cold fries.
Finally the same guy came out of the kitchen and again asked.. am I sure I want buffalo sauce on the grilled chicken because it would not stick well. Yes please, just toss it in buffalo sauce.
So then more awkward waiting. Having to sit there watching someone eat food while you are waiting on yours is a bit uncomfortable. Finally my dinner appeared again. Only this time they actually heated the broccoli and it was in a bowl, no gelatinous lumps and there was buffalo sauce on the chicken. Woo hoo! But then I got to eat while R was just waiting on me. Again, not the most comfortable experience.
They eventually made it "right". But I hate to say while some did stick to the chicken breast, the buffalo sauce really didn't add a lot of flavor to the grilled Chicken, so in my opinion, that one dish a hard pass.
The broccoli was good hot the second time. No gelatinous lumps. It was actually in a bowl.
I have a before and after pictures of the broccoli so yea.. I'm really disappointed in what I was served first and question why was it not hot and in a bowl the first time?
Not sure why buffalo sauce on a chicken breast was such a culinary challenge. But R swears we will never be back so time will tell. I'm sure it will be a long minute if...
Read moreMy husband and I have been regulars at this place for years. Service has always been a little hit or miss, but we’ve always come back because the food was great.
They’ve been steadily going downhill for the past year or so, so we’ve slowed our pace from going nearly weekly to every once in a while. Today was probably the final straw.
We always order the loaded fries, and they’re consistently hot, fresh, well seasoned, with a nice pile of bacon on them. These fries were not the fries we’ve come to expect; they were thin, limp, and gray in color. Obviously old, with barely any bacon.
We sat with these for 20 minutes before the server came back with our food in hand this time. We pointed out the issue with the fries. She agreed they didn’t look right, so she said she would take them off the check.
She dropped our food, and my husband’s food was lacking the Alfredo that comes on it. He’s ordered the same thing almost every time we’ve come - he knows what it looks like. We also had no silverware at this point still. We asked for some silverware, and my husband asked about the sauce. She went to check. She came back with silverware, and said that she asked the “chef.” He apparently said no, it does not come with sauce, and that we wouldn’t be getting it.
We checked the menu. Online and the physical copies in the restaurant. Both clearly state the dish STILL comes with sauce, as it has for the past 3 years. I guess no one working here, servers or “chefs” knows what’s on the menu.
We then wait probably another half hour before she ever comes back to the table, after watching her bounce back and forth between her two other tables. We point out on the menu where the dish does come with sauce. She again agrees with us, and takes this off the check also.
It was disheartening though that the server never got a manager involved and didn’t really do much else to try and rectify the issues. It’s been sad to see what once felt like a staple in the Oak Ridge community go...
Read moreI think I've left one other restaurant review ever but this warrants one. We decided to go last minute today, Easter, because it was convenient and lots of things were closed.
Our first server was awful. More than unfriendly. We told her we were waiting on someone else and needed a minute. She didn't come back for quite some time. When she did she again was really unfriendly, asked my daughter what she wanted as well as for my 2 year old grandson. My daughter asked her if she was okay. She said, "Are you okay??" My daughter told her we'd been waiting a long time. She took my order and asked if that was all. My fiance hadn't ordered and I guess she thought he didn't want to? When I told her that he needed to order she stared at him until he did.
My daughter was really annoyed and asked Nang, who was sitting close enough for us to see him, if we could have another server. We did get another server, which was slightly better than the first.
The Food arrived and nothing was hot, really barely warm, and my fiance's Food was completely wrong. We told her what he actually ordered and that was fixed. His food was actually hot and edible.
We asked for the spinach dip to be taken off because it was almost cold and really just not good. She took it off.
The biggest problem for me is that the owner not once came by to see if things were okay, better, anything of the sort. To me that's unacceptable.
I worked in the restaurant business for 25 years and give TONS of grace. I know exactly how the business goes and that mistakes happen. This was just awful from start to finish. Horrible (mostly) service, awful food. The worst $62 I've ever spent. Not one thing we ate...
