TLDR: Overall had fun with my friends. Q Karaoke has a decent selection of music to choose from. However, pricing for private room is not written anywhere and have to take the word of the owner and/or representative at the counter. Suggest to get pricing in writing, pay upfront (our group paid at the end once we were done singing), and get a copy of any and all receipts with foods/ services itemized.
Q Karaoke has a decent selection across different genres to suit most peoples music taste. I had fun with a group of friends, however, there were some things I wish I knew beforehand, specifically:
This information was not available via their website (which is flooded with ads and doesn't even use HTTPS protocol). The website had no valuable information regarding the # of rooms available, pricing, etc. This makes it hard to understand what the actual rate is for a private room. Not having it written anywhere is problematic IMO.
Suggest asking about pricing upfront and pay BEFORE entering the room and ordering any type of food or drinks. When my friends and I went we were allowed to go into the room and paid afterwards. Food and drinks are paid for the instant you order.
As soon as I stepped in I felt transported back to Japan. I cannot believe I had not found this authentic asian Karaoke experience after living in orlando for more than a decade. Q Karaoke is set in a very old looking building in OBT nextdoor to the Aldi I usually go to. I'm glad our friends found it and decided to celebrate a surprise birthday party there, I think the surprised one was me and not the birthday guy, who already knew of the place. The ambiance is nice, and it made feel like at a speakeasy, as I would have not guessed there were so many karaoke rooms, judging by the small bar and modest beer fridge by the entrance. I would recommend this for family reunions, team building activities and just a friends night out. We had the steamed dumplings and egg noodle soup. Everything was great. It could use a renovation but it's understandable as they probably don't have the funds to advertise as much and bring more ppl in, but they have been there for around 10 years. GO...
Read moreI've been here a few times over the years, sometimes on regular nights, once on New Year's Eve. It's always a fun time. We usually go to KTV which is a little more rough around the edges, which is part of the draw of course. Q feels newer and more polished. I love both places though.
The guy at the desk this past visit was super nice and helpful. He explained the machine really well and promptly helped us when we accidentally hit a button that was ending songs early.
The song selection for English language stuff seems about the same as KTV. I dunno about drink prices as my buddy picked up the tab this time, but they've got the standard selection of a dozen domestics and imports you'd find anywhere, plus a colorless flavored Korean alcohol called soju.
The bathrooms are clean and well maintained.
Don't sing Africa by Toto until you're ready to lose your voice at the end of the night. DO sing Honesty by Billy Joel, and...
