I've been here in OR for over 40 yrs. Wok'N'Roll has been longer than that. My introduction, way back then, got me a little more attention than I would have liked. Not the good kind attention either. I had never seen an oriential wok for take out before in my life. I remember being a little confused because I kept hearing this name that everyone was talking about all around town, and not having a clue what it was. Except for I thought I had somewhat of a clue that connected what ever this was with the other thing that was brand new and wildly popular at the time which was MTV or Music television the new channel available on this other new thing called cable TV. Long of the short is that I made the connection, citing the play on words, but with no reference to what the hell an oriental wok was, all my assumptions were miles off target. I got roasted for years and years over that. With amazing confidence guessed it was either a night club or the name of headliner or house band. It's totally a rock n roll thing. I just couldn't figure what the word play was, but that didn't matter. It would come to me. So embarrassing! Even then, easily over 40 years ago they were so popular that they couldn't always meet the day's demand for as many orders as they were getting. Wok'N'Roll is a freakin legend in OR and this area. Right up there with Big Ed's Pizza and a hand full of other elite names that people for miles around would immediately recognize as iconic.
I've got nothing but respect for the restaurant and it's owners, employees, etc...I'm just not crazy about the food. Sorry, it's just my...
Read moreOrdered pork fried rice, wonton soup and hunan beef from this place last night - let's just say, there was no need to get soy sauce packets - I think they used an entire cup on my rice - honestly, the rice was almost black due to the amount of sauce used. The wonton soup had no flavor and I think the broth on the soup was actually watered down - almost clear. The lady at the register was extremely rude when I gave her my name and she noted that was not right. Just flat out rude. Also, when you enter this establishment, they have tables that keep you from going directly to the counter to herd you in like cattle. I will not return EVER.
Also, I just noticed that they charged me an extra fee of $1.98 with no other explanation. Also, the receipt showed up noting a...
Read moreThe lady running the register is extremely rude. My fiance made a special request on his meal due to dietary restrictions, and she lost her mind over it. Laughed at him, raised her voice, made fun of him, etc. Then, even after making a huge deal out of it and making fun of him for it, they didn't follow the special request. Which, by the way, was not extreme. We literally asked to remove the onions from his noodles because he has a sensitivity to them. We used to be huge regulars and would order takeout once a week from this place, but the customer service has been terrible the last few times. The prices have went up like crazy too. Will...
