Aguachiles El Tamarindo — Restaurant in Oakland

I was craving aguachiles today after our cabin trip so I thought I’d give this place a try, since I’ve heard such great things and reviews. So me and a friend drove up from Arnold Ca to Oakland. I didn’t realize that it was cash or Venmo only so we had to go find a bank. Once I got there the line was pretty long but moving slowly but moving. The service was ok the cashier could be a bit friendlier but that’s alright. We ordered 2 quesabirria tacos and one small consume, along with the VIP Botana. Upon receiving my food everything looked great. I tasted the tacos first and all I could taste was the cheese very over powering but still good the consume was a bit on the salty side but still good. Once I got to the botana I was pretty disappointed. As I started moving the shrimp there was so much cucumber! The ratio sea food too cucumbers was way off!!! As I tasted it it was too spicy to really enjoy it and I like spicy! But not spicy that makes my buggers come out the callo de hacha/ Scallops were very soggy and the flavor just wouldn’t stick. I was over all disappointed, the drive from Arnold Ca, to Oakland never again to eat the VIP Botana. I will stick to Sacramento and Fairfield for aguachiles. I was pretty upset I paid for so little shrimp and a whole tray of cucumbers and 6pieces of stringy purple onion for maybe $30 Stay home make your own...

This place was recommended by a few friends. We went on a Saturday the line and the wait to get the food was not long at all. If you are looking for Mexican style sea food this food truck has that and much more. We arrived and saw the menus on the food truck and it was mind blowing. Not only could you read what they had but you could see all the plate’s because they have photos of each plate that they make all over the food truck. So we got into ordering we had the Baja shrimp and fish tacos they were amazing we also ordered a ceviche mixto also good and súper tasty to top it off we order a quesibirria it’s a quesadilla with beef meet that was also amazing. Unfortunately our stomachs were not big enough to try more things, but we are definitely coming back. Not only they have sea food but they also have a veggie menu and a full taco truck menu with all the tacos and burritos you can imagine. I highly recommend you coming here with an empty stomach and get ready to enjoy all the amazing food...

I have eaten food from here multiple times and it’s usually really good, best seafood in Oakland I’ve had so far! However, today i ordered off door dash and had an issue I’ve never had before.The food is always fresh tasting when delivered but today it didn’t taste the same. It tasted old.The rice had many dry pieces throughout, the beans and ceviche didn't taste fresh.May I add i didn’t even receive my tostadas for my ceviche tostada.My grilled shrimp were rubbery and overcooked on top of that.Im not sure if i got them on a bad day or new cooks, must’ve been something? But due to this being my first bad experience here thats why im not giving them a 5.
