Lupita's Cocina — Restaurant in Oakland

Was excited to try this place as soon as I heard there was a Mexican Restaurant opening in this location. Finally, something in Oakland that’s not Italian/pizza.

Happy to report the food is great! Part of my family is Puerto Rican so I know good Spanish/Mexican food when I see it, and this definitely fits that description! It seems a bit expensive at first glance, but they give you generous portions, and the food is pretty filling.

I got the Gorditas El Pastor and my friend got Miguel’s Bowl. We were both very pleased with our meal. The portions are big enough that we both had leftovers too!

Two thumbs up from me. I hope this business has success and sticks around for awhile, I know this location can be tough. Cant wait to go back and try more...

Rude and overpriced, speaking of prices- they have none. Except the rice and beans- $3.99 right? Nope, for 4oz sides of rice and beans with my tacos I was charged $7.90 additional. Not even sure how that happened, but the cashier insisted that I was wrong and that they do indeed charge nearly $1/oz of rice(or beans). That’s insane, and incorrect according to the menu. When I asked about menu prices, they said they didn’t have them yet. That makes no sense, they have a tv as a menu board. Just put the prices on the menu? I prefer to give my business to local places, but this is just ridiculous. Pictures of the menu included...

The ladies there are delightful, the place is bright and clean. We tried the tacos and tacos dorados and the quesadilla. Nothing in the order was anything beyond “meh”. The tacos and tacos dorados had almost nothing in them, so were over priced for what we received. Chanos delivers to this area, are roughly the same price and their food is on a completely different tier. While I love the idea of a local place with great Mexican, this just isn’t it.
