Umami Express — Restaurant in Oakland

I got the smoothie, a side of steamed veggies and a tofu bowl and not only were all three clearly made with high quality, organic ingredients, but they were absolutely delicious. 10/10. But what impressed me even more than the food tonight was the thoughtfulness of the gentleman working. They closed at 11:30 pm (bless them for being the only vegan, organic food in the area open that late) and was cutting it close to get there before closing time. When I arrived 1 or 2 minutes after 11:30, I was worried that I had missed my opportunity and screwed up, but no - a thoughtful young man was literally standing in front of the restaurant with my order, waiting for me. Super fresh ingredients! Had the Chicken Greens bowl with extra Wagyu. cabbage was crunchy and had no “dirt taste” water chestnut had wonderful texture without that sour turnip-like smell sauce complimented the greens bowl perfectly

The taste profile is on the lighter side despite even having the chili oil and lemon garlic dressing — but everything is balanced and fresh.

I feel healthy even after eating...
