Golden Gate Pho — Restaurant in Oakley

So, food was not good. I had ordered a number 25. Beef short ribs with one egg and one egg roll, asked to sub the salad for extra rice, the rice with an extra side was not even equal to the portion they gave my son, whom I ordered a kids rice with three egg rolls. My ribs looks sad and thin, for the price you pay, one would think I would get a mound of food on my plate but they were serving me like the plate cost $5. Service is subpar, looking at the reviews, this place has been open for at least 8 months. Waiter has an iPad, may or may not have menu specifics but he should at least know what goes with what, no, not even another waiter when we ask about a salad for my wife. Just all in all an entirely horrible experience. I didn't even make it into my short ribs until I said that we needed to go somewhere else. First and last time here. This place used to be a Chinese restaurant before covid so the ambiance was roughly the same and we've been there a few times, layout is just a bit different with the booths and tables arranged...

We had the most wonderful lunch we had in a while. Simple , fresh tasty and in generous portions A total superb value for money meal!

The place spotlessly clean, neat and quiet for a lazy Saturday afternoon.

And the wait staff was serving with a bright smile and intent to please. We loved the service here.

Now the food:

We ordered the shrimp spring rolls as starters and they were the freshest I have tasted in a while.

I ordered the Pho Ga and it was so huge that both of us shred it and yet that was some left in the bowl. Clean, freshly made and we both loved it.

Better half ordered the stir fry Shrimp with bamboo sliced with veggies . Huge shrimp and lots of them cooked to perfection with those amazing bamboo slices. This was so tasty that we were fighting over it and yet the portion was being enough for both of us.

We left for home with a full stomach and a light heart dancing at the thought of...

Update: Finally got to see the inside, it’s a nice restaurant, I love the murals on the wall and there’s plenty of seating.

This one is located in Oakley Town Center on Main Street. We can say oh another Pho yes it is. As a matter of fact I am so glad there is one near me now. We did not dine in we ordered food to go. The food is always excellent. I’d like to say they are consistent in the taste of most Pho place. My all time favorite always is the beef ribs so flavorful and it never disappoints.

Service: We ordered to go…so when we got there it was ready. Thumbs up for that! It was a quick and easy check out. The price is standard to like other Pho Places you won’t spend more than $20 per person unless you’re that hungry!
