I felt irrevocably in love with tabbouleh, sfiha and kibbeh since the first bite, when I was a kid in Rio de Janeiro (where at that time there was a considerable Lebanese population). We used to eat them frequently. Imagine how excited I was to visit Aladdin at Oberlin, in Ohio! So I ordered exactly that: tabbouleh, sfiha and kibbeh and the disappointment I had is almost indescribable... The tabbouleh was swimming in lemon juice and had no olive oil; the sfiha was a pita bread (yes, I kid you not!) rolled into a triangle that was baked to a wooden consistency; and the kibbeh looked picture-perfect, but tasted nothing like the real thing. The place was dark and gloomy when we came in from the glorious sunny day outside, but I never choose/judge a restaurant for its looks! Our table was so sticky we had to ask the server to clean it; we had to deal as best we could with the sticky menus. I sat against a wall, on a bench. Suddenly these extremely loud thuds were heard and my seat shook a little bit. The thudding kept going on and on and people at nearby tables started looking in our direction. I asked the server what was going on and we were told they were cutting veggies! So, we decided to leave them to abuse the poor veggies in piece and moved to a different table. That is when the food arrived and we wished we had gone to the nearby India Garden--that although not the best Indian food, at least it...
Read moreThis will always be the greatest Lebanese restaurant that I have ever been to.
I have eaten here more times than I'm willing to admit because their food is perfect, their staff is kind beyond belief, and the atmosphere in this restaurant is positively perfect.
Hummus: This is likely the greatest hummus I have ever had it is smooth beyond belief and has the most vibrant flavor imaginable.
Tabouli: The tabouli is an explosion of flavor with the greatest lemony pop that makes this a must order.
Chicken Shawarma Roll: I don't know how Aladdins makes their wrap bread but it is light as air and delicious beyond belief. The chicken is juicy as can be and has this incredible spice to it that is absolutely indescribable.
Mujadara Plate: Please, Please, Please order this dish it has a unique blend of textures and flavors that is the perfect complement to a meal.
Thank you for years of perfect dining at this absolute staple of the Oberlin downtown area and please never leave the town is in your debt for years of incredible food...
Read moreThis is a great place to enjoy authentic Mediterranean food. The staff is extremely friendly and personable, and they are a great resource when navigating the restaurant and the menu. The building is very accessible, with wide aisles, and space to move around. While it is not extremely spacious inside, the setup makes it much more helpful for wheelchair users or people with visual impairments to get around. There is one door to enter through, and a ramp leading to the entrance which makes it much more accessible for many people. The all-gender restrooms are very spacious and easy to get to. The tables are also low enough to the ground that individuals who use wheelchairs can reach them comfortably. Aside from the physical accessibility, the menu offers a wide range of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options to accommodate for a much wider range of people with different dietary needs/preferences. I had a great experience here; the people are great, the atmosphere is fun, and the...
