The Slow Train Cafe — Restaurant in Oberlin

Slow train has been a local staple offering craft coffee and espresso beverages for many years, and my family has frequented at least once a month for quite some time now. However I must say over the last 12-18 months there has been an uprising in business, which is great financially, but has led to a decline in overall employee morale and product quality. Sometimes we are met with emotional resistance from baristas who are clearly feeling overworked and overwhelmed with the business needs, and are not able to offer the modicum of effort that is needed to deliver quality customer service and beverages alike. While this is understandable, because these people deserve rest and incentive to work outside of financial stability - this needs to be addressed by the proper authority within the business. TLDR; cozy ambiance with lots of interior seating but my latte was far too milky

a super cute cafe near oberlin college. upon entering, the lighting and seating had a cozy ambiance and most customers are students grabbing coffee before class or sitting at the cafe to study. i read that slow train and the local were the most popular cafes in town, and opted for slow train due to better lighting.

Despite its ostensible charm, this establishment is a paragon of inefficiency, where the art of coffee-making is reduced to an insipid, mechanical ordeal. The baristas, exuding an air of perfunctory disinterest, meander through their tasks with a lethargy that borders on indolence, rendering even the simplest order an exercise in Sisyphean patience. The coffee itself, a pallid and uninspired concoction, lacks both depth and nuance, betraying a grievous lack of craftsmanship. As for the ambiance, one might find greater comfort in a sterile waiting room, as the cacophony of poorly curated music and the incessant clatter of incompetence form a discordant symphony of disappointment.
