Main Street Grille — Restaurant in Oberlin

This was the most bizarre experience!

Pros: The biscuits and gravy and egg over medium were a great, solid breakfast. My server was friendly and attentive. Prices were perfectly reasonable. Atmosphere homey and comfortable. It is located an easy walking distance to campus.

Cons: the bill arrived with Everything costing a bit more - like one egg priced at $1 on the menu but was $2.18 on the bill, tea $2.50 but something like $3.24 on the bill, etc.

When I asked about this, the server sent the manager over. I first complimented the food and then asked about the price differences.

The manager started out of the gate, belligerent with - It is posted everywhere that credit card fees are added to the price (I didn’t notice any of them until they were pointed out to me) and the prices changed with the increased prices of eggs but we haven’t changed the menu yet! And I can’t talk to you if you won’t let me answer, and I can’t deal with your attitude, ignore her, she’s crazy and on and on.

I did the math, paid cash, minus the fees, returned to her the extra penny she tried to give me, since it clearly mattered to her and tipped the server the directly.

It is too bad what is otherwise a nice place to have breakfast is run by a crazy, angry, illogical manager.

And It wasn’t just me, the gentleman next to me said he complained 6 months ago about the exact same thing and...

Let me tell you about Main Street Grille. From the moment you walk in, you're treated like family. After a few visits, you are family, and you'll even get a nod and wave from the owner, Andy, from the kitchen window. My wife and I have tried nearly everything on the menu since we moved to Oberlin in March, and let me tell you, everything is amazing. Don't forget to try the Soup of the Day! It changes daily and every single soup I've tried has been amazing. Andy truly cares about the food he and his fellow cooks prepare, and you can tell. Anthony Bourdain once said do yourself a favor! Learn how to cook an egg ! If you can cook an egg you can cook anything ! Eggs where perfectly cooked,I asked over medium for i do not like runny whites and it was perfect! Just enough wet yoke to soak up with my perfect toasted rye toast .their sausage gravy is obviously home made and it's plentiful i would ask easy gravy on on the side .
