Since hibachi is meant to be a group experience, it was as fun as you’d expect, however everything felt incredibly rushed here. Drinks arrived quickly, followed almost immediately by appetizers (maybe five minutes later), along with the two sushi rolls I ordered. Right after that within minutes came the soup and salad (that goes with the meal), and before I was even a quarter of the way through, the chef had already started cooking our meals for the entire table. By the time he finished, I still had more than half of my appetizer and sushi left.
We also ordered sake to go with our meal, but it didn’t arrive until after I had already starting eating into my main dish. To top it off, they brought the check while I was still eating, making it feel like they were rushing us out just to turn the table, even though it was slightly after 8:00pm. It’s extremely hard to truly enjoy the experience when everything feels so rushed.
The food itself was just okay—about a 3/5. The tofu was overly soft and squishy and unenjoyable and the flavors overall were ok. For a total bill of $160 (including 18% auto gratuity plus additional tip), I expected better service without the RUSH, RUSH, RUSH mentality of to eat, pay and leave. This is definitely not on the server but the way they operate business.
This was a solid three-star experience at best. The staff really needs to work on their timing to make it a more...
Read moreOur experience this evening was less than adequate. We had asked for assistance from the manager in regards to gluten free options. He was very rude. We had asked for fresh tuna as an option in replace of spicy tuna, he told us that it would be a $6 up charge for the fresh tuna. Mind you they sell a fresh tuna roll for $4.95. In the attached photograph you will see that yellow fin tuna is $15.99 a pound and wild-caught is $168 per pound. When you consider that a serving is normally less than 2 ounces that's quite an upcharge. The waitress earlier had said it was only a $2 up charge. Needless to say he was not very polite in how he corrected her in front of her peers and customers. He declared to us that the waitress wouldn't know and the cooks wouldn't know as he's the one who orders the tuna. He said that his restaurant was not able to make adjustments for gluten free. Then when we see the various reviews of other people calling, or talking to the manager, or talking to the chef or wait staff that they are able at this very same restaurant to get gluten-free items. So I'm not certain what to believe, but he was very rude. And in no way is this waitresses at fault as she was very trying and accommodating. Side note to all of that it is interesting to see that their tip calculations at the bottom are not accurate as well. Unfortunately it's the waitress that's taking a hit...
Read moreAbsolute worse dining experience in Ocala in the past 5 years. Watched manager harraunge single father with 3 children and elderly wheel chair bound grandmother because manager wanted them to crowd next to us at hibachi table. Man had to tell him, "sir, we will walk out if we can't put her on the end." Finally he relented. Waiter took our orders, 7 people at table but then did not turn on the grill, so when the chef came out he could not cook. Ten minutes later...and mind you we had all finished our salads before the chef came out. I'm the only person at our table to order noodles. The kids see noodles and want some so the dad adds it to their order. Waitress bring out half a cup of noodles and that gets added to mine which then is split between 6 people. Steak and scallops was a 2 oz steak and two scallops. They also forgot the grandmas scallops. And the worse part? I am eating my rice when I disgustinly find a piece of hair in my mouth. The waitress calls the manager, who then proceeds to tell me no one there has dark hair. The entire staff is dark haired. Then he says the grill is so hot it would have melted the hair so it couldn't have come in the rice. I told him I don't want excuses, then he starts to apologize and takes my meal off the tab but as I am paying again tries to argue. Never...
