Just ordered via Uber eats wanted to give my review first of all thank you for servicing barbecue. It’s refreshing being from the Midwest. As far as customer service I always When I did get delivery, I always gear customer service according to whether or not I received you sent utensils and condiments I received utensils however I did not receive barbecue sauce and considering this is a barbecue restaurant I would think that would be kinda high on your list as your signature is typically your sauce I had to use an alternative. All the food came within 30 minutes I consider that when it comes to the temperature of the food so everything arrived warm not hot. This required that I reheat the food which means it takes away an element of the food texture.
I’ll start with the macaroni at first taste. It has a nice texture, but simply taste like cheese and noodle however, once warmed up, I could tell there was more than one cheese used but as it cooled down again, the texture was ruined. It became gritty makes me believe that either, the rue was not fully cooked or you added cold milk however I gave it a 3/5. Where most may consider green beans to just be green beans, I consider green beans as a very delicate side, even coming from a can they can be seasoned or there can be added to green beans to have them seasoned your beans or obviously a can and we’re not seasoned so they were green beans, 1/5. Your potato salad, however, “chefs kiss”, again I had to consider the temperature because of the drive from the delivery, The texture was perfect. The size of the potatoes were great, they were the exact size they needed to be the Trinity was noticeable. I don’t believe it was mixed well enough to have enough Trinity to Trinity, but all in all 5/5. Anyone could smoke a brisket the key to the brisket will be the tenderness smoke intensity and it’s rub or crust you got 2/3! It was smoky tender. I requested a fatty piece. There was very little fat. I was kind of disappointed when I request a fatty piece would love to have a big portion of that fat. I want the fatty piece of brisket again, which was intense and it was barely there overall 2/5. Last, but not least your ribs perfectly smoked! However, again, there was no noticeable nothing indicating that the ribs were rubbed in anything except maybe mustard and paprika. There was no spice there was no salt. It was just smoked ribs and once again, no I can’t sign your ribs without a sauce so they were smoked ribs for me. 2/5.
I hope this review gives you some insight on an in death in person opinion of your barbecue from someone who’s had barbecue all over our great country. I’m not looking to critique you as an expert just as someone who really really enjoys and treasures her barbecue experience thanks for taking the time out to...
Read moreRecently visited on the official grand opening. The overall look and feel of the place is nice. Has sort of a 4 Rivers vibe with the decor and how you order. I really like how they kept the original sign and pay homage to the old Six Gun Territory.
The lady who greeted and helped us was especially friendly and answered all of our questions and made recommendations for us (I wish I remembered her name). She really made a big difference in the whole experience.
We got the ribs and the pulled pork (they were out of brisket at the time) as well as green beans and Mac n cheese. The ribs were fantastic (didn’t even need sauce) and the pork was good too. I like the choice of sauces, all of which were good. I was however a little disappointed in the sides. The green beans were fresh but lacked flavor and still had a lot of stems and such in them as if they weren’t properly snapped. The mac n cheese was also average (seemed like Velveeta).
I will say that the value in what you get here is worth it overall. The smokehouse plate (what we got) had 2 meats, 2 sides, and corn bread for $15 (enough to possibly feed 2 people).
I really want to see this place succeed, as it is an Ocala staple with a rich history and I’m tired of chain restaurants running the show, so please understand this feedback comes from a place of love.
My personal opinion is that they should charge more money for the food (or possibly cut portions) but increase the overall quality of the food so they can stand out against the competition. If they don’t change things up a bit I’m afraid they may not make it, because currently if you want value bbq you go to Sonny’s and if you want quality you go to Big Lee’s. This place I feel falls somewhere in between and could easily be forgotten.
All in all, I will definitely be back because I want to try the sliced brisket and the burnt ends, as well as some other sides, so I can make a better assessment (one visit isn’t really fair).
UPDATED Went back for a second visit, got the brisket and chicken with baked beans and coleslaw….WOW! Everything was fantastic this time around, but I am surprised to say that the chicken and baked beans stole the show (and I’m a big fan of brisket so that says a lot). Both were hands-down the best I’ve had at any restaurant, including Big Lee’s.
I will definitely be back a third time to try the brisket again. I found out afterward that they had just ran out after our order, so I’m assuming I got the last of the bunch and obviously not as fresh/probably dried out a bit. Even so, it was still quite delicious and I can only imagine what it must be like fresh. I was told 11am (when they open) is the prime time to grab some so I will definitely be back! 5 stars...
Read moreWe stopped here after a few hours at Silver Springs and so glad we did. First you’re greeted with the smell of smoked meat right in the parking lot. The restaurant is very clean and tidy. The ordering system very clearly explained by signs and the server. Basically like most bbq places you order and pay at the counter and they bring your food out to you. It was easy and efficient. The server was extremely helpful and kind and even got a drink for our young son who was getting inpatient with us trying to decide what we wanted. We had a somewhat large party of 7and we choose to sit outside since it was beautiful out. We came early evening so it wasn’t an issue for us to take up two tables. The seating outside was just clean and well kept. The food was delicious. Tbh I’m picky about bbq because of my husband and I usually find myself feeling he could have done better. But it was not the case here. I got the brisket dinner. The meat was so tender and not fatty at all. The sauces they have went perfectly. I mixed the Caroline with the spicy and it was chef’s kiss 🤤🤤. I got the sweet potatoe and corn with it and both were excellent. I loved the variety in sides and that you can pick if you want something heavier or lighter and that wasn’t all fried choices. The cornbread was also very good. I also tried the coleslaw which I am also picky about. It was fresh, great crunchy texture, and the perfect amount of sauce to it. Overall I finished my entire plate which I can’t remember the last time that happened. My husband got the spares ribs with Mac n cheese and toast and the fried Mac n cheese balls. He said everything was delicious and he too finished everything. The rest of our party all really liked their food as well. The chili I was told was very good as well as the burnt ends and the fat boy sandwich.
ALSO my husband was most impressed with the fact they carried Busch light in bottles 😅😂 he’s from Missouri and this is the first he’s been able to order it outside of his home state.
Overall efficient & excellent service with friendly staff, delicious food, and for the prices we thought we had time travelled back to 2019 😂😂 so...
