China Lee Buffet — Restaurant in Ocala

This was our first visit to the China Lee Buffet. The China Lee Buffet is one of the better Buffets we have been to. No they are by no means perfect. But they are very good in most respects. We found the food to be acceptable or better with pretty much anything we tried. The normal choices of the Chinese food were very good. Some better than others, but all good. The other types of food is a nice option for visitors who may not be fans of Chinese cuisine. There seems to be enough customers visiting, to have a good turn over on the freshness of food. Plus it allows for plenty of options on what is available. We visited in the noon hour on a Friday in January, 2024 (approximately 12:45pm). Surprisedly, there was no line when we arrived. We were seated pretty much immediately. The cost for lunch plus two soft drinks for the two of us was approximately $30, plus the tip we left. Not the lowest cost lunch out there. But I considered it fair for what we ate and was available that we did not. The rest rooms were not filthy. But the mens room definitely could have used some attention. I would like to keep in mind that it probably sees fairly high traffic. But both soap containers had no soap in them. So it was more like rinsing your hands, rather than washing your hands. When we left about an hour later (approximately 1:45 pm), there was a line out the door waiting to be seated. That's another good sign about China Lee. I figure that folks do not wait in line unless either it's good, or they have no other options. From our experience, China Lee is quite good. China Lee is really better than four stars. But to me, it doesn't quite merit five stars. So it would probably not be out of the question to actually give...

We have been going to China Lee for quite some time and have always been happy with the food and service until recently. The first incendent happen a few weeks back when my friend went to go get her desert and she found a long black hair in it. She told the server, but all she said was sorry and would get her another desert. REALLY! She found a hair in her food. That's digusting!! We had to leave because we were ready to throw up. The cashier did nothing but say she was sorry. We didn't come back for awhile, then decided to try again yesterday for dinner. The lady took us to a table and we ordered sweet tea. Then went to get our plates. After we finished eating we went back to get a other plate and went back to our table. When we got there our drinks were gone and the table was cleaned off. We called the server back and told her we were still here, and where was our drinks? No oppolgy or anything. All she did was go get our drinks and acted like we were bothering her. When we were done eating she put the bill in front of us. I said to the server I'm not done yet. She looked at me and walked away. I have never been treated there in this manner. But you can bet your bottom dollar I will not be back ever again. You last 2 customers who come sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. Between the hair in our food and the disrespect we can eat somewhere else and not have to deal with nasty servers like her. Also your servers should all be wearing hair nets and gloves around the food....

Me and my parents went in around 7:50. The food was alright. The service is terrible. The female server with glasses had taken a few minutes to get our drinks. We asked for hot tea and two waters on with lemon. She came back rushing with two half full waters without the lemon piece about 5 minutes or so after we were already eating. She hadn’t even brought the straws. It was hard to even ask for straws since she was more concentrated on other things like her phone while sitting down at a table with her coworkers. I went to get some sweets while my parents continued eating. She brought us the hill not even 15 minutes after we got there. She was terrible at refilling only did so once. That one time she refilled our drinks she spilled the water on the table and hadn’t even cleaned it up. She didn’t even hand us napkins we had to ask for them to clean it up on our own. Not sure why she was rushing when it wasn’t overwhelmingly full and was on her phone. She also kept looking over at our table to see if we had put our card down to pay. We hadn’t even gotten dessert. The only decent server I say I had would be the male server with earrings and a short haircut that is trimmed near the sides the one. I don’t believe he had tattoos or was fluent in English. His service overall was great. Very attentive on refills and wasn’t on his phone. He didn’t make us feel rushed either. His service was very welcoming. Not sure I’d go back after my service with the female server...
