The service here is absolutely atrocious.
My party of 7 set a reservation at the very beginning of their dinner block and we asked for the party table to experience the fun culture of authenic Thai style of eatting. Right upon entre, we were greeted by the owner (who was one of our servers as well) who had a very unwelcoming and sour attitude towards our party. We waited a long time for her to return and there were numerous occasions when we had to ask for service (keeping in mind there were only 2-3 other small parties in the restaurant). Upon ordering, I was having a slightly difficult time making up my mind between two options and the response I got was a curt, "Can you hurry up because I have other stuff to do." Which was a very awful way to address a customer. Then the waitress continued to ignore our table completely, and another server would occasionally take care of us with a polite and vibrant attitude that was well recieved by my party. I will say that the food was fairly decent, some things better than others, so there weren't many complaints there; however, upon asking for dessert, I was informed they had no fruit, which baffled me considering we were there at the beginning of their dinner block and there were not many people in the restaurant. I did not get any dessert and at a certain point in time, all 7 people in my party had empty glasses, even extra cups were empty, and it stayed that way for a very long time. Our original, rude waitress returned with our checks which included a pricey 18% gratuity fee, which we were fully aware of the fact that parties over 5 will have that added to their checks but considering the poor service, the lack of ingredients, and the terrible attitude we were given, we were not pleased with the fact that we had to pay such a high amount per check. So we proceeded to say we felt that the service did not deserve that high of a tip, to which we were verbally attacked, called cheap, fecal matter, and told that we didn't even earn the money we had but were given by "mommy and daddy", which was an attack on the fact that we were all young (17-18). When our checks were brought back to us, she proceeded to slam our checks on the table and tell us that she hoped to never see us again and had her entire staff come out of the kitchen to watch us leave. Needless to say, we did not pay the gratuity fee and will not be returning to this establishment.
The fact that the service was so terrible and the waitress, who like I said we found out was the owner, was very rude to us because of our age. We were not rude or disrespectful and the fact that a grown women felt the need to attack us because we are young was honestly quite nauseating and truly uncalled for. Even though we are young, we are still paying customers who deserve a decent meal with quality service and our age is no excuse to treat us like we are not paying customers or that our experience does not matter. I was highly disappointed because I was told very nice things about the food at this establishment but for the terrible service and lack of people skills, there is no way I will be returning. I honestly felt very insulted and please ask that you do not waste your money at this...
Read moreLast Saturday, September 20 20 my husband and I went there to have lunch. I have been going there for years and always love the place. But they have gone downhill quite a bit. The food has gotten very cheap. We have always ordered the fresh rolls normally they used to use Napa cabbage, 3 shrimps, Julie end pieces of carrots, red peppers, green onions, Rice noodles, And been sprouts. Now the fresh roll is comprised of iceberg lettuce which taste terrible in a fresh roll, one shrimp no onions or red peppers no carrots. And the price has doubled. They have completely went way cheaper on their food and doubled the price. Then our main dish was pad Thai seafood which we always used to love. There was always enough for two people to share. Not this time! The pad Thai seafood was always loaded with seafood. Not now. There was only two shrimp, one scallops and four pieces of calamari. In a main dish, I can’t believe it. End it was much smaller than it used to be. I ordered some The coconut chicken soup, they used to make it with straw mushrooms, they look like little lampshades. Now they use just slices of button mushrooms. They used to put more in it. It still has a good flavor. But it doesn’t have much in it. They used to put a lot more in it. We asked the waitress to have the cooks put a little bit extra green onions in it. She said no no no no. They will have to charge us four dollars. I said for a couple extra green onion? You Gotta be kidding me. I can go to Walmart and buy a whole bunch for $.50. I said we like a little extra green onion, She said no no we have to take something out of the dish if we put that in. I completely was floored. Don’t ever ask for anything done a certain way there. Don’t ask for anything to be added extra in your dish. It must be unheard of there. Then I had asked for the spice rack they bring to your table which used to be 4different things now it’s only two. OK then we had it for about five minutes and the waitress came back to our table and said are you done with this and grabbed it and walked away and gave it to another table without cleaning it first. She took it from us and took it to another table I don’t think you should do that with Covid going on. Royal orchid used to be my favorite restaurant and I raved about it to everybody. I don’t...
Read moreFirst time here and kind of disappointed. I came here for spicy beef noodle soup and the broth comes out super sweet. Even if you add a ton of hot peppers and chili oil, the sweetness is still there. I’ve been to a ton of Thai restaurants and I am part Thai so I know a lot about authentic Thai food. If you’re coming here for Thai noodle soup, it isn’t the best and you can definitely find better elsewhere. Plus the prices are high here. However their Thai tea was amazing! & I do love that they give you soup and spring roll and a dessert at the end though!
UPDATE: 10 months later I come back to get Larb. I’m Thai and have had so much Larb in my life from different states, so so many. This was absolutely horrible! First, they don’t give ANY lettuce whatsoever! Larb is a salad and they gave a couple pieces of lettuce. Secondly, there was no spice, cilantro, nothing. Just plain meat. And third, I ordered double meat. As seen in photos this is not double, barely even one portion. This is the last time. If you’re looking for Thai food in Ocala, go to Ayuttaya Thai. You won’t regret it. This place doesn’t taste authentic at all. And the service is super slow. I won’t be back!
UPDATE ABOUT 2 YEARS LATER: Today I went back to give them another chance. I did give them 3 stars, from 1 star. The food just isn’t that spicy. I got it to go so I was able to come home to add my own spices, but they don’t give you any cilantro or basil for the Thai soup and no cilantro or mint for the Larb. But this time the Larb was so much better and I added my own greens at home. I wouldn’t eat there, but I would order...
