Billy's Sub Shop & Pizza — Restaurant in Ocean City

My parents have owned a beach house in Ocean City for over a decade, and we’ve been coming to Billy’s for years. It’s always been nothing short of excellent. While the food might take a little time, it’s always fresh and they’re busy because it’s just that good.

I’ve always loved Billy’s because they care about serving quality food and are willing to accommodate their customers to make that happen. I grew up getting their famous cheeseburger sub with my dad until I became a vegetarian.

Tonight, I noticed they now offer an Impossible Burger on the menu, and I was so excited at the chance to bring back a taste of that old favorite. I called Billy’s and asked if they could make the cheeseburger sub with the Impossible patty, and without hesitation, they said yes. The employee I spoke with even promised to personally make sure it was done right.

That small act of kindness meant so much to me. They didn’t have to go out of their way to accommodate my request … but they did. In a busy summer town like Ocean City, where things can get hectic and flexibility isn’t always the norm, that kind of thoughtfulness goes a long way.

I don't usually do negative reviews but we were disgusted on so many levels I had to try to save other people from making the same mistake. If I could give less than one star I would! The restaurant on 139th was very dirty and absolutely dead so it's not like they didn't have time to clean up in the middle of busy season. The prices were outrageous especially for the quality of food. $40 for 2 adults and a kids meal, and one of the adults only ordered mozzarella sticks knowing that we could pick off the kids plate. The steak sub was one of the worst we have had. No flavor and way too much bread, barely toasted. The sauce for the mozz sticks had turned rancid. The fries were soggy. We will never go there again and we hope others don't make the same mistake we did wasting money and calories when we could have just gotten real Boardwalk fries at the boardwalk! This review is immediately after we left so we are hoping we don't get food poisoning. Good luck patrons that decide to ignore this review and other bad ones....

You go in, you see the old plastic letter menu, you see the original ovens and soft serve machines, you see the newspaper articles and everything on the bulletin board, you KNOW you’re in an old, mom-and-pop authentic restaurant. Everyone knows that mom-and-pop authentic food is the best, and Billy’s is no exception. I went in expecting some good pizza, so I ordered one with extra cheese and garlic, and the fiery fingers. The slice was served to me on two plates, which should’ve been the first red flag that it was some good food. Needless to say, it surpassed my expectations. The garlic isn’t some store bought, nasty, vinegary garlic. The fiery fingers were still crispy despite the sauce on them, which was the best part. And the shake was beyond good.
