Holy Macaroni! — Restaurant in Ocean City

Holy Macaroni is one of my husbands and I's first stop when we come into town on the weekends. The dishes are delicious and this allows us to not cook on Friday Nights. The food is good. Service is adequate and this is how we start our weekend. Last night Aug 30th, around 830pm the service was absolutely atrocious. When pulling in, from our car we could see an employee leaning on the counter speaking on her cell phone and a gentleman mopping the floors. By the time we made our way into the restaurant no employee was in sight. I assume the gentleman mopping had gone to the back to put his mop and bucket away and we could see the other employee through the window on the kitchen door still on her phone. We waited for quite some time before the gentleman mopping comes back from the back apologizing that we had not been helped yet. He quickly washed his hands and began to make our order. He starts making both dishes simultaneously and stops and heads to the back. He comes back out and lets us know they are out of cheddar sauce and what we would like to substitute cheese wise. No biggie we both agree to substitution. Meanwhile other employee is still on cell phone not helping and ignoring this employee who is running around trying to get everything complete as fast as he can. He comes over and apologizes about his coworker and our wait as our meals are in the oven cooking now. This gentleman (Cameron) was working so hard to complete everything. As a Manager and Supervisor who has worked in many large companies, this employee on her phone had no regard to your business, to your patrons or even her colleagues. Stopped in for lunch because of the rave reviews on their vegan Mac and cheese. The staff were highly unknowledgeable of the menu and the only thing they had that was vegan was the vegan Mac and cheese, no vegan salads or even potato chips. Nothing else was available but that’s not why I’m only giving 1 star.

The Mac and cheese was only barely warmed up and had chunks of cold broccoli throughout it, I was definitely expecting the food to be hot not just from an enjoyment standpoint but also food safety. I was going to say something to the staff but they had disappeared and no one was in sight so I threw it in the trash and went to five guys 2 blocks down to get a veggie sandwich and fries, always fresh and hot. I was really hoping for the best walking into this eatery. A dedicated Mac and Cheese joint should be able to get Mac and Cheese right... Right? The staff was great and accommodating and the building itself was clean and proper. But the food itself was another story. We ordered a Maine Event and a MD Mac. The Maine Event was dry and crunchy around the edges and they definitely load you up on Mac and Cheese and bacon, but not much else. Very tiny amounts of lobster. The MD Mac was lukewarm at best and my fiance struggled to find any hints of Crab. Overall I would not eat here again but I wish them the best and hope that they take some feedback and...
