The Original Greene Turtle — Restaurant in Ocean City

So, we came down to OCMD to have some fun and do a bar crawl. The entire drive down my buddy was glowing over the Original Greene Turtle and how great it was. I was extremely excited to share in his enthusiasm about the place. However after walking in the door marked for the bar, and looking for 5 open stools near each other the bartender told us we would have to go to the dining room side and be seated. As we walked away he stated to people sitting on the bar that its clearly stated on the doors which entrance we were supposed to use. We make it to the hostess and we tell her we were looking to sit at the bar, so she walks us back over to the bar and looks herself sees there's plenty of stools just everyone left one to two stool between each other. So she asks if we would take a booth which we agreed to. We waited to a waitress and finally asked the bartender for drinks, a bit later they arrived with a waitress who asked if we were ready to order food. We stated we were on a bar crawl and were just interested in some drinks. She left we had our beer and wanted to pay. Once again back to the bar, she finally came out we paid and left. A disappointment for my buddy who talked the place up and a horrible first impression for what was billed as an OCMD staple. Anyway, he asked if we could see the upstairs where they normally go they said no, so we went into the Greene Turtle store, the lady there was awesome. She joked around with us and made the trip to the Turtle worth while. Great save by the lady working. She is awesome, keep her around! I always try to find the good in a bad situation, that lady made the trip here worth while, otherwise...

DO NOT GO HERE. Absolutely a disgrace, poor excuse for a restaurant with a strong lack of management presence. First of all as we walked in to put our name down for a 3 top we saw 4 empty tables and were told it would be a 40min wait. Hostess was unfriendly, we spotted a "busboy" seated at a table slowing stacking plates as if it was the only dirty table apparently oblivious to the full restaurant and 40 people waiting outside. The food took 30 min and when our 3 sandwiches got there they messed up one order. We ordered no cheese and sweet potato frieds but a sandwich with cheese and fries came. We alerted our waitress and she told the kitchen. 30sec after the food runner dropped off the same exact plate except some cheese was scraped off and a new toothpick was put in the sandwich, again incompetent to notice fries on the plate. We again told our server about the issue. They took it away and as 2 of us finished our food we finally received sweet potato fries. A few minutes later we received THE SAME CHICKEN SANDWICH with a new bun. The server said they would take it of the check. The check came with a full charge on the meal and a only a partial deduction. This was our worst dining experience ever. Worst of all at no time did a manager try to take care of this issue, take it upon himself to ensure we received what we ordered in fair time, come over to apologize for the inconvenience, or explain that they ATTEMPTED to reimburse the meal. If at all possible...

Best first: wife and I both ordered a pint of beer. Ice cold and refreshing. It was downhill from there....

Service: waitress promptly took our food order. Food was delivered in a timely manner......but, didn't hear back from her until we were done and sitting there with half eaten plates pushed across the table. She seemed more interested in showing her co-worker something on her phone than noticing that we only ate about half of our food. Then when we advised her of our issues she said "oh, you should have told me". May have if you came by our table to check on us. Another interesting thing about our service was that our waitress didn't serve us a single thing. Drinks brought by one person, food by another. After voicing our dislike for the food and quality, no management was notified and she simply brought us our check.

Food: overpriced for the quality. My wife ordered the Ahi Tuna. Slightly over cooked, definitely over seasoned and way too salty. Didn't seem very fresh either. I ordered the Crab Cake with Onion Straws. Again, my crab cake was way too salty and the onion straws were cold.

As a former chef and corporate trainer for two separate major chains and with my wife a current server, we were very displeased with our experience and will Not likely be back. We come to OCMD every summer and are always looking for new places to eat but unfortunately The Green Turtle will not be...
