Nestled in the heart of Ocean City, Nori is an absolute gem that transcends the typical sushi experience. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in an atmosphere that is both relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable – a perfect backdrop for an unforgettable culinary journey. What truly elevates Nori is its exceptional staff. Every interaction felt genuine and attentive, demonstrating a deep knowledge of the menu and a clear passion for hospitality. Their recommendations were spot-on, guiding us to dishes that perfectly suited us. We started with the Nachos and Salty Edamame, and let me tell you, these aren't your average appetizers. The Nachos were a delightful surprise, bursting with flavor and a creative twist, perfect amounts of spicy mayo and eel sauce to complement the fresh bites of tuna and crispy wontons. The Salty Edamame offered that perfect savory bite. Both were a testament to Nori's commitment to quality even in their opening acts. Next we embarked on a sushi adventure. Following the staff's brilliant suggestions, we sampled several of their specialty sushi rolls, each a masterpiece of fresh ingredients and expert craftsmanship. The flavors were vibrant, the textures exquisite, and the presentation, impeccable. We also ventured into their vegan roll selection, and we were absolutely thrilled. Often, vegan options can feel like an afterthought, but Nori's vegan rolls were just as inventive and delicious as their non-vegan counterparts, proving that their culinary creativity knows no bounds. Each and every roll we tried was, without exaggeration, very tasty. Nori has perfected the art of sushi, offering a diverse menu that caters to all preferences without sacrificing quality or innovation. In a town with many dining options, Nori stands out as an extraordinary destination. It's more than just a meal; it's an experience curated by an excellent team in a delightful setting, leaving you with a lingering sense of satisfaction and a strong desire to return. Nori in Ocean City is, quite simply,...
Read moreAvoid this place, so sad how they went downhill. They are completely under staffed and appear to be overwhelmed. The dark atmosphere matches the I’m annoyed at being here personality that chef Phil has towards his customers and staff. When we arrived our party of 2 wished to sit at the empty sushi bar. When approaching to sit, Chef Phil shook his head no and said “someone will be right with you guys”, I said ok but we just want to sit at the sushi bar. Chef Phil says, “sorry guys but someone will be with you”. Our thoughts were ok, maybe it’s their protocol and they have to watch the head count and last year the food was worth it & they were cool during COVID so we’ll follow his lead. A staff member greeted us and said we will have to wait 30 minutes, even for the empty sushi bar and she took my phone number. We got a phone call a couple of minutes later saying we could be seated at a table now however the sushi bar is closed. While waiting inside to be seated, another party of 3 adults walks in and tells Chef Phil they’d like to eat at the sushi bar. I saw Chef Phil attempt to say no, but the gentleman was pushy and Phil caves in and says they can sit at the sushi bar! All thus is happening in front of us. When our server came to seat us, I said with a positive tone that there’s good news, sushi’s bar is open, this family (which we were standing next to) of 3 people is sitting at the sushi bar. Chef Phil is caught off guard and the server says - they are our special customers!! They are family of one of the girlfriends !! I’m like yeah ok, that’s why they don’t even known each others names?
We were floored, so we left the sad scene Chef Phil has going and tried the competition - blue fish! Literally...

As I walked in there wasn’t anyone at the bar or at the hostess station. The tall bearded guy behind the counter rolled his eyes and asked me why am I here... no hello 👋 basic communication and customer service skills. He said that order was not ready. I went outside to wait... mind you order was placed at 5:20, I walked in the restaurant at 5:52 thinking that it’s ready... but it wasn’t which I was okay with. I waited outside... 10min I went back... bartender girl didn’t even looked or acknowledged the fact that someone is waiting for the service standing literally next to the bar until I said excuse me and ask her question, she told me that my order being prepared... As I was talking to her I noticed that 2 containers were standing on the counter across the bar 🤔 waiting to be packed... which is weird cuz I counted amount of ppl at the restaurant and it was 3-4 ppl at the bar and 2 tables in the whole restaurant... Service is 0 stars... no wonder this place was empty who would wanna be served by ppl who can’t even say hello when u walk in! My order was wrapped sloppy! No soy sauce... sad! Preparation could’ve been better! We ate them sushi and still were hungry! Btw staff should stop flirting with each other cuz people are waiting for their meals... And might be in hurry!! U are at work flirt when u off the...
