I wanted to give this Denny's 2 stars because the manager took care of my bill, but after reviewing the other comments about how great their service was, I have to rate this place a 1 star only because it was one of the worst service I have received. I came in around 7pm Wednesday night. It wasnt busy a lot of people had gotten their food already. I was told by the manager to just take a seat at one of the open booths that was by the front counter. It was just me so I waived the lack of helpfulness as just them being casual. I had to help myself to a menu as one was not given to me, which i had to get up and take from the counter that the manager had stepped away from. Once seated again, I heard the manager inform the server to serve me. She rushed by to check on a table behind me then informed me she would be right with me. I appreciated the check in. Once she got to me i asked about the veggie burger in which she had no idea about, she told me that it had mushrooms in it, I asked what brand it was and she was not able to tell me nor did she offer to ask anyone. ( Anyone that knows veggie burgers has their favorite brand, so this is important, not all veggie burgers are good. In any food serving job you are trained to know which veggie burger they serve fyi) since I wasnt getting anywhere I opted for pancakes and potatoes, something simple. The food took about 20 mins to arrived. I asked for a straw to drink my water with once my server handed me my food, but never got it. About half way through my food I had to ask the manager for a straw. I never saw the server again. When I had finished with my food I sat for a while to wait for my check. I waited about 10 mins and finally I went to the counter to pay. The manager asked me if I had my check and I informed him I never received the check and I was bearly served. I reminded him that he had to get me a straw and told him I never saw my server after the food was dropped. He told me that he was sorry and told me he would cover my bill. It was a very cheap dinner, I know that, but that still doesnt make up for the lack of service. I used to work in the food industry and I was fully prepared to leave a sizable tip to cover the lack of a sizable bill. I appreciate the manager handling it, but I sat right next to the counter he was standing at, he saw the lack of service being displayed and never checked in on my table or any of the other tables. His name was Mike i heard him say it to one of the to_go customers. I never got the female server's name, but she was skinny, with glasses, dirty blond or brown hair. I made an online DELIVERY order on the Denny’s website because my husband and I were really wanting breakfast food, but didn’t want to get out to get the food. Delivery sounded amazing. After completing the order my confirmation email said it would be delivered in about 24 minutes. After 45 minutes went by I called to make sure the order was still on its way. The hostess that answered the phone told me someone had picked it up already. I questioned why someone was picking up the order if it was going to be delivered. She rudely asked me who I ordered from.. I ordered off of the Denny’s website.. so I ordered from you, Denny’s. She said she didn’t know who picked up the order because she didn’t know who I placed the order through. NOTHING in my confirmation email or on the Denny’s website does it say that they use third party delivery services (GrubHub, Doordash, etc.). She couldn’t tell me the name of the person or the time that my order was picked up. I asked her if she could just put the order in again and I, myself, would come pick it up. She said “like you want to come get it for free?” I said no, I haven’t gotten my food. This is not for free. I’ve already paid for it and have not received it. Therefore, I would like to come pick up the food I have ordered and paid for already. I asked to speak to a manager because I wasn’t getting any clear answers. He proceeds to give me the same speech about not knowing who picked up my order or what time. I told him that’s pretty scary that they can’t tell me who, what company or what time my order was picked up. He rudely told me that “he wasn’t going to go through what he has already told me and that this has never happened before.” At this point I’m sick at my stomach and breakfast food is the last thing I want right now. I asked for my card to be refunded and the manager agreed. He then proceeded to offer my husband and I “free food” either today or tomorrow to make up for us not getting our food. Read moreNever again in oceanside i went there on vacation from Arizona agter a nice 6 hour ride came in on my birthday and was told i would receive a complimentary meal, but thats not all. My food also tasted like chemicals of some sorts just didn't taste right and didn't finish whole meal, wifes meal was great according to her tased great but couldn't eat it all so saved half of her grand slamwich which we realized we left it there a few minutes after we left. Needless to say didn't receive my complementary meal as she charged me full price, i realized and asked for refund she told me that it was truly a hassle and would take time because they were busy, so being me i said fine what can we do she says will send you 2 free complementary meals for the inconvenience so i agreed gave name, number, and address never received a thing and this was back on june the 11th. also to top it off when we called to make sure our food was still there as my sons still had leftovers as well, they told us they threw them away already! So i was charged full price for mostly food we couldn't even eat because it was thrown away carelessly and never received what was promised. This was our 3rd time here as we go once every year when we stay in oceanside and this was by far the worse experience ive ever had at any establishment....
