Hunan L'Rose — Restaurant in Odenton

THIS IS A WELL-KEPT ODENTON SECRET! When I first went into the Hunan Rose, I was thinking how did this classy place end up in a lowly shopping center in Odenton??? This is a four-star restaurant by anyone's estimate, at least equivalent to a P.F. Chang's. They have a liquor license and stock non-alcoholic beer. Come in more than once, and the staff will probably recognize you. The service is excellent. The food will be prepared the way you want it. If you want hot and spicy, ask for it. They will do their best to accommodate you. The menu has numerous choices and unlike anywhere I have been, offers Kung Pau Squid! Incredible. This is a relaxing environment, and restaurant where you would be proud to take someone on a formal date. You eat on tablecloths and the staff are dressed up in tux like outfits, and the owner demands excellent service. There is a strong likelihood she will come to your table and chat. Her walls are covered with awards, eat there and you can see why. It is packed on Friday and Saturday so get there early. If it''s a birthday, let them know. You will get a picture! Call them for take-out, don't just drop by because it take about 20 minutes on a weekend. I have been to China and the Far East, and I haven't had better food or service. ALERT!!!!... do not eat here, my husband and I ordered 4 meals which we paid 97$ for.. it was nasty, my husband ordered pork fried rice half the rice was white with a hint of pork, my daughter ordered garlic chicken the chicken tasted like chicken of the sea it was canned meat and the sauce tasted like sugar and oil, and was watery grosssss , then I ordered spicy hunan Lomien it was not spicy at all and no flavor, my oldest ordered beef and broccoli and the meat was not good it was stringy and rubbery and watery , I’m not even sure what we ate at this point, oh and let me not forget the wonton soup we ordered it had a LOT of lettuce in it, never had I had wonton soup with a half a head of lettuce in it.., I only chose to eat there because my husband said that use to be his favorite place growing up, but hasn’t ate there in over 5 years but he swore it was never this bad.. so I called to complain because we couldn’t eat the food, the guy tells me what’s the problem with me because they always make there food like that and everyone loves it, ok well I’m not everyone and that food is uneatable. Hunan L Rose, from the bottom of my heart, you are the definition of disappointment. There is no reason for anyone who is reading this review, to waste their time or money on this absolute dump of a restaurant. You can expect the following from your meal, it will be watery, it will never be spicy, you will be up charged for asking to have white rice instead of fried rice (3 bucks mind you) and your fried rice will taste like reheated fridge rice, if you order anything that is fried you will actually be ordering food that is coated in soggy general purpose flour, your vegetables will beyond a shadow of a doubt be the highlight of your meal, and you will leave here sad and uncertain about every having Chinese food again. This place has been the corner stone of Odenton Chinese food since I can remember. But, it has just continued to worsen with time, all while jacking up prices and failing to deliver on what it says it still is. I'd take food court Chinese food from Arundel Mills before I'll ever spend a dime in this restaurant again. Lord knows I could eat food court Chinese three times in a row compared to the price of ordering food for two front this crapshack.
