Abuela’s Kitchen — Restaurant in Odessa

Giving the 2 stars for the food and that's about it. Service was horrible. We were seated and not asked for our drinks until 20min later. I ordered a lemonade and requested it in a to go cup, but was informed they ran out so i was fine with their cups. Then we had to request for our chips and salsa because the lady seemed to have forgot, our server seemed to be the most slowest moving person ever. Everyone else seemed to be working on their tables pretty quickly, but our server was never to be seen...when we were finally asked our order another 20min later after our drinks were served we then noticed it was just this server that didn't seem interested in making any tips today. After we finished eating I then noticed they had to go cups because many were being issued out...so I said ok il ask for a to go cup now...after 30min after eating I then kind of try to get her attention that we were ready for the ticket. She comes over I request for a to go cup and the tickets, she still begin to tell me they still don't have to go cups but can give me the drink in a bushes cup I was like um ok...she brings the drink 10min later and still no ticket finally after 10min of waiting for the ticket we go to the front to see if we can pay out because a quick lunch turned into over an hour half meal because of the server ! Then she begins to charge me for 2 drinks when I asked why she said oh because I have to charge you for to go cup drink.. I was freakin amazed like really...I payed her and left with my 1st experience of that restaurant not being good at all. I then called and left a message for the manager to call me back so I can explain the service I had and why I wasn't given a to go cup from the restaurant while there were many that I visually saw and then charged full price for a to go cup/drink. Smh...they never called back so this is my review!

Update the owner called very respectable and understanding said he will talk with her...Maybe we'll try it...

I was excited to finally try this new place. I was complementing on how beautiful it was as we were being seated. I stopped to speak to some friends of mine and then sat down to view the menu. I was there a total of 15 minutes no one came to take our drink orders or approach our table at all. A gentleman came in after we did and he was served drinks chips and salsa and again the lady looked at our table and kept going. There was another server and he didn't approach us as well. Sadly we had to leave and go to our favorite spot Jalisco on 8th street. The one star rating is for the lady...

To begin the food was very good and generous. Only negative would be the up charge for the tostadas & hot sauce. Probably close to my favorite salsa in area. I was greeted with a smile but unfortunately had some trouble communicating with my server. I asked if spoke English. She replied very little. So it became a point & explain. Slight disappointment because of this. Atmosphere was fair and actually the same as the previous restaurant and the one before it and so on. Only caveat of change would be the mariachi music playing continuously. Not a bad thing just a...
