IHOP — Restaurant in Odessa

My husband and I came to eat @7:30 this morning. There was a lot of trash in front of your storage closet. Not an appealing thing when you first walk in the restaurant. There was no host or hostess at the host stand. Only 4 people were waiting to be seated though. We had asked for a table so when hostess had found one she signaled us to come back there and didn't bother to simply come back to tell there was one available and have us follow her. Our waitress was very overwhelmed and told us multiple times during our time there that it was a "chaotic morning and that she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off" There was hardly anyone in the restaurant, let alone hardly anyone in our section. If she can't handle a few tables then she should be re-trained. There was also a gentleman sitting next to us when we got there that could not wait any longer for his order bc he had to go back to work. Our waitress was griping to us that he was only waiting 10-12 minutes for his order. I'm sorry but we don't care about that. We care about enjoying our food and experience. She had asked us if we needed anything with our meal we asked for A1 and Chilulla. She forgot to bring it with our meal. We had to ask another waitress for it and they didn't bring it so our waitress came by and o asked for them again. Each time she checked on us she didnt really ask how everything was. she griped about her job. She even asked if we needed anything else "going once going twice bc she was busy". Ridiculous. Also y'all's benches are torn up and need to be fixed or replaced. But all in all her poor service definitely reflected the tip we left her and we will not be back. Also trash was still at the front when we left.

04-18-19 -- been a while since we ate here and decided to try it again... we were sat in front of their nasty dish pit room and it smelled horrendous! We had to ask to move tables. We saw how nasty their dish pit is...tiles are cracked and need to be replaced! Trash needs to be swept up and they need to wash that nasty floor! Come on ppl this is where you are washing the dishes we eat from! Ew! I just ate my food bc I was hungry but it was not great. The bacon was not crispy and each time I order hashbrowns the portions get smaller. I'm never eating here again bc yall...

Me and my husband decided to go to ihop to place a order we had called in advance to make one and the lady on the phone said they weren't busy to just come in so we did we get there around 3-4 ish am we placed our order at 5:30 (we ordered a family pack we figured it was take a while) (the place was basically empty) we sat in the entrance area and waited and waited it was at 6:20 we asked why it was taking so long and they never put our order in. Got a $40 almost $50 dollar meal to wait 2 and a half hours… is insane. The manager came and talked to us ( gave us a half ass apology) gave us some drinks and 2 coupons. The girl that works nights needs to do better and not forget the orders it’s your job. This was on 4/13/25.

4/18/25 So we go back to use our coupons (we have nothing against ihop) we get the same waitress. ( August) we get seated the table was dirty we asked to move and we did we get our food and as she was putting our plates on the table she sat my husbands plate down and his eggs fell on the table and she did nothing but kept repeating herself saying “ I’m so sorry I’m sorry “ then proceeded to say “ you can use the knife to put it back on your plate” and never offered to take the eggs back or make new ones are you joking. For one the table is dirty the eggs were not cooked all they were sunny side up and still uncooked. On top of that my pancakes I had were cold and hard like they had just been sitting out on the counter for a while. At this point I’m just irritated and my husband is irritated because she did nothing and Checked on us maybe 2 times We asked for new eggs and the lady that brought them was sweet. Then the manager comes to us and says so you didn’t want your food to touch and that was not the issue the waitress told her we wanted new eggs because they were touching the steak we told her no they fell off the plate onto the table and it’s disgusting. Never had any issues with this place until now we definitely won’t be going back there. They need new staff or just get rid of the waitress we had because it seems like when we go and she serves us it’s always a problem. If I could give this establishment zero out of five stars I would. This was the worst experience I've ever had... At any IHOP... I stood waiting to be seated for at least 10 min when it was only a few people in the restaurant... Every one walked passed me over and over with out any recognition of even standing there. Finally a waitress getting off work decided to help seed me because no one was paying me any attention.. I didn't receive it at a small booth. Where took my waitress at least 10 minutes to 15 before she even spoke to me. It was at this time I noticed the door where all the dirty dishes and plates were being kept on the inside. I noticed it because of the smell that was coming out. once I looked over I could see inside and it was extremely disgusting to see all the trash and filled just beyond the door right where I was about to eat... Once I place my order it then took another 35 minutes if not more before for the waitress informed me that my food was ready. And then took another 10 minutes before she brought me my food. I noticed my food had been ready for at least 15 minutes before it was even brought to me. Once I did receive my food it tasted horrible. it was easy to tell that the food had been put back in a warmer to try to make it hot to seem as if it was fresh... But the overall taste of the food was horrible. I could taste the grease that the hash brown cooked in was old and the eggs did not taste real was not enough meat inside the eggs and it just taste like rubber.. I was never given or asked about a refill on my drink. The amount of time it took for them to bring my food let me to leave the restaurant.I didn't want to chance to send in my food back making someone angry perhaps anything happen to my food and or it taking twice as long as it did the first time to bring my food out. I paid my bill Left my tip but will not return to this place unless some major changes happen.. IHOP needs to work with their employees on their people skills and how to interact with customers and make sure things are done on an efficient manner. the Midland Odessa area is known for its bad service but that is no excuse.
