This is my 5th time to the restaurant and sadly will be my last. I love the decor and overall feel of the restaurant. The menu is diverse and flavor is spot on, with that being said...you must get your food to be able to have that experience. Tonight was the final nail in the coffin for us. Our experience started off with a rude greeting over the phone with total lack of customer service training from the hostess. After a long wait to be seated (told a much shorter time) the hostess came outside, asked us if we were the party of 6 (no name but we are a party of 6) only to be told by another customer that we shouldn’t be seated because in their perspective we hadn’t waited as long as another group. Little to this man’s knowledge, my husband had been in the bar waiting and I had been in the car with my children for over an hour. The hostess then didn’t take control of the situation and told us to wait so she could then seat who random stranger directed her too?! Really?! Yes, I know, I should have left then but when you have starving kids and it is a Friday evening you attempt to feed them instead of starting the process over at another restaurant. After informing the hostess again that we had a 7 month old who requires a highchair, we were seated at 2 separate booths which the restaurant does not allow a highchair on the end (understandable but not acceptable for our needs and request). Against my better judgment I wrestle with my 7 month throughout dinner in a booster turned sideways so she doesn’t fall out. It took 13 minutes to be asked our drink orders. Appetizers came out in an acceptable timeframe however we were given 2 of one of the appetizers (sent the extra back since we didn’t order it). Another 45 minutes pass and the children’s food has come (one order is wrong but my child was starving and ate it regardless). My husband and I continued to ask where our food was with a response of, “it should be coming,” from the server. Over an hour goes by and at this point my husband took the kids to the car. I spoke with the manager to discuss how the experience was, she was polite and attempted to rectify the situation. I informed her I was not looking for a handout, just wanted to inform her so she could change the experience for others. Your staff is a direct reflection of your ability to manage. Lack of training is evident with little regard for the customer experience. We hoped the experience would improve only to be disappointed by the experience getting worse with each attempt. We will no longer be dining at Coach’s despite it’s convenient location and family friendly menu. Hopefully, this review will be taken seriously and training will occur from the top down so this doesn’t...
Read moreWent to the Calcutta location Sunday, 9/6/2020. Wasn’t crowded. The host was nice. Our Waitress was good. Checked on us frequently. We both ordered burgers. The prices are fairly high but I would consider this a premium burger restaurant. I gave only 3 stars because although not busy our fries were cold. They still tasted good. I could only imagine how much better they would have been hot. My other complaint would be the bun. A $13 burger should have a premium bun and at least one that is toasted. I may give Coaches another chance. But when 2 people have burgers and fries with sodas to drink and the tab is over $30. I’ll have to think about it.
Addendum: I have decided that Coaches deserved another chance. Actually my wife had gone there with my stepson and had a great experience. I have gone there twice and the food was excellent. The buns are improved. Toasted! The food was hot. Service was great! Shanna our waitress was amazing. The mushroom bacon burger tasted great! I have changed my rating to accommodate. Thanks
Another addendum: Made a reservation for “The Game”. Over a week in advance. Showed up on time and was told our table was taken by a group that had no reservations. After going to Coaches on a regular weekly basis I am sad to say I’m done. The manager was rude. Not accommodating at all. We left and went to the Vault downtown. I guess they want our business more than Coaches. I love the food at Coach’s actually more than the Vault. But to me service is just as important if not more than the food to make your dining experience better. I will not be giving them any of...
Read more*Update for review. The staff felt the need to hunt down my social media and harass and gaslight me on my review. So not only does Coaches Burger Bar scold kids for having fun at a family friendly restaurant, they are allowing their staff to harass customers because of their review and experience.
HORRIBLE TREATMENT... For about a year now, My 11 year old son loves to take his friends to Coaches in Calcutta Ohio to play pool. We order food and the kids have an amazing time every time we go, all the kids even got pool sticks for Christmas and thats how fun we've had at Coaches, until today. We were told by a waitress to BE QUIET because they're are older people in the restaurant and we're being too loud!!!!! We were absolutely NOT being obnoxiously loud! The kids and I would cheer each other on if someone made a cool shot.. or when one team would win the game. The rest of the time we were QUIET and watched each other play. If people want peace and quiet while sitting down to eat, there are other alternatives than a SPORTS BAR, where we've witnessed many times people get excited and LOUD about their teams on the multiple tvs in Coaches winning or losing. To come in the pool room to tell kids to BE Quiet.. And to basically have no fun at all is disgusting. Patrick and Stacy Howlett should know about this and take action immediately! Take a stand for some kids having fun at...
