I dont usually leave reviews, pretty much ever, but I saw some very negative comments and I've had a total opposite experience so I'd like to leave a review. First, one of the reviews said the food is better quality at lunch or dinner time, and I came at 6pm, though there were no other people, I just wanna say I mightve gotten a better end of it. I ordered jumbo fried shrimp, which was not out of this world, but pretty tasty. Then I ordered a lamb with white rice, hot and piquant sauce with zuccini/broccoli/onions/peppers served together. It tasted great, perfect combination of sweet/tangy/and spicy. I do agree, rice tasted a bit dry, but not to the point of stale. It did spread apart, but dried rice doesn't necessarily mean bad, just means less water was put in to make it, and it might be something of their recipe for a purpose. I do feel bad for some ppl who had bad experience here, but this restaurant is 1. Clean 2. Serves clean taste food unlike other so many american-based chinese restaurants who spike their food with msg for instant pleasure. I had a great experience here, nice and quiet place with a combination of peaceful, calm chinese music in the background. I did have my doubts before cuz of the reviews, but It turned out to be one of the better decisions I made today to visit the restaurant. All I'm saying is, before judging a book by its cover from negative comments, it might be worth a try before choosing another place. And it is most DEF better than McDonald's or quick franchise pickup, but obviously I can't speak for others. Good experience overall, good food, price is a bit higher end, but...
Read moreVery good service and the Dumplings are good are the positives. I will not be returning only because they can not make anything hot enough for my taste which some would say is understandable since my heat tolerance is very very high (I asked for a 12 on a scale of 1-10 and tasted no heat and then I was given a side of super hot sauce which i did no taste any heat either, but again, i'm not normal) and their base sauce was just not tasty to me and I felt that any of the other similar restaurants had a better tasting product right out of the kitchen. Portion's are reasonable and felt the prices are slightly high, chicken rice and veggies are pretty inexpensive to buy yourself and I really give no stars for the taste and prep here... (5 small dumplings w/sauce for 4.99 if memory serves) I feelt the quality of the food was fine and I am looking forward to spicing up the leftovers to...
Read moreConsidering the prices, I was pretty disappointed in the scraps they used for the meat. I mean, it's a given that a Chinese restaurant isn't going to be using high quality cuts but the minced up pieces of chicken they do use should have been tossed out.
I've ordered from Szechuan Garden a few times and their chicken is a joke. The General Tso's, Phoenix Chicken and Bourbon Chicken are all just tiny little scraps. The Bourbon chicken in particular, it looked like the minced up leftover pieces that the cook should have rejected.
It's a shame because the flavor of the sauce is good and if they used just a slightly higher quality cut of meat it would be fantastic but the slop they use is just disappointing. Even given the fact that it's a Chinese restaurant and they aren't going to be using good cuts, a halfway decent size piece of meat would have blown...
