Mentor Ave Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Ohio

Went to Saturday Buffet and it was terrible. It's suppose to start at 8:00... But had to wait till 8:20. Then the food was cold. Biscuits were ICE cold,(obvious baked in advanced or pre-packaged) scramble eggs were cold, melted cheese to put on eggs was cold, thick lumps. Ask woman that was filling buffet (which I come to find out she is owner of restaurant) if I could get a couple biscuits warmed in micowave and she said no. WOW!!! The warming tray would eventually warm them. Then man that was bringing out food had towel thrown over his shoulder which he wiped his entire face with, nose, mouth. Then used it to wipe buffet down with it. Hmmm... Remember covid, flu? There were fruit flies all over the fruit area. Called discreetly owner over to talk about the cons of her buffet and she said... She didn't care.... She said; you ate the food didn't you? The thing is.. I didn't eat the food, but still paid $12.99 for garbage. I wasn't the only one that was complaining, another couple with granddaughter was surprised about food and behavior of the owner. If continues, someone will get sick, and it will catch up with them and they will close just like so many others. ...

I dined in and ordered take out for family at home. The restaurant is clean and welcoming with friendly staff. The menu offers a generous selection for everyone, with salad and soup bars. Our food came out in a timely manner piping hot, fresh, and delicious. I ordered chicken liver, an unusual find, they were perfect! My mother tried the cabbage veggie soup, something she makes herself, and she loved it! I would have given Family Restaurant 5 Stars had my take out order been correct. Sadly I didn't check the containers before leaving for home. Upon arrival I found items missing. The chicken dinner was missing the mash potatoes and veggies. The chicken quesadilla dinner was missing the baked potato. Since I live out of town, the possibility of returning to fix the order is not an option. I will however return for a redemption visit as we all have off days. The food is good, the staff great, the establishment clean! I recommend stopping by! I have revisited Family Restaurant to enjoy the delicious food. The stop was well worth it! I can't say enough nice things about the people, place, or dinner you're going to enjoy. Try...

Not very good. We ate there on a Friday around 4:30 p.m. The salad bar was small but fine (veggies were fresh & numerous dressings to choose from), actually the only good part of the meal aside from the garlic toast. The soup which was part of the salad bar tasted like generic canned soup. I had the cabbage vegetable and hubby had the chicken noodle. Both were very mushy. My entree: (Smothered chicken) - the chicken was very overdone at the bottom and dry, veggies were mushy, though the mozzarella cheese which topped it was a good quality. I ordered mashed potatoes without gravy and it arrived swimming in gravy with very little potatoes. Hubby's entree: (Southern fried chicken) - meat was over done and he said it tasted like frozen Banquet chicken.
