DO NOT EAT HERE! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Changing my review based on current service. Came into this establishment at 10pm last night. Server didnt ask us what menu we wanted so I had to wait to get a server to give me the menu I wanted. The waitress then asks us for what we wanted to drink and leaves. Then another waitress comes up than the previous to ask for our drinks then gets them to us. During ordering the new waitress referred to is as “dawg” and had no idea what was on The Hen House Special and asked me what it came with when I asked about the choice of bread item (because you can choose how you want eggs done/ potatoes/ all meat as one or the other). So we wait for 30 minutes and had to get another waiter to find out whats going on with our food, this waiter I may add is wearing street clothes and not a uniform so we were lucky that it was correct he worked there. Our food had been sitting on the counter for 15 minutes and nobody bothered to bring it to us. We go to eat and everything we ordered was cold, I asked the waiter out of uniform the get the manager for us. I advised him as politely as possible that our food was cold and if he could microwave it at least as I felt rude for even asking that much. Manager offers to remake it entirely and apologized for the it. I advised the manager of everyrhing that went on because I didnt want it to happen to others that would have snapped and made it a huge arguement. Manager tells me he will take care of it all. So we get the bill and he takes our drinks off to say sorry and I thank him for being so kind, then we get to talking about the pen he hands me and says its his lawyers pen and that I can keep it (as I complimented how nice the ink and pen quality was). You must be wondering why Im writing this review when all was handled? Well I caught wind of how the manager has COMPLAINED about us asking for the food to be reheated. Since Im such a issue when simply polietly asking for HOT FOOD TO BE SERVED IN A DINER instead of having to wait 30 MINUTES to be served COLD FOOD Im leaving this review. I will never return to this establishment that I have come toover the past few years. I encourage everyone else to stay away since you have such a issue with me being polite and respectful over such a bad situation. I could have been as rude as you have been behind my back sir but instead now...
Read moreService was average! We started with the appetizer that gives you fried pickles, onion rings, mozzarella sticks and mushrooms. The mushrooms were good and the mozzarella sticks were ok. The onion rings were over cooked and the pickles did not seem fresh. It came with three dipping sauces one being marinara that was thick and dried out like it had been sitting out for a few days. Onto the dinner part first of all we waited almost and hour for our food to come out. I got chicken strips and my wife got a breaded chicken sandwich. The lettuce on my wife’s sandwich literally has a wilted brown spot on the middle of it. She threw it off and decided to give the sandwich a try anyway. She took a couple of bites and that was it. She had me try it I took a bite the chicken was dry and plain tasting and the tomato on it did not taste fresh either. She also got a side salad again tomato was not fresh tasting. And it was mostly lettuce no cheese just lettuce old tomato and I think I couple pieces of onion served with crackers. Onto my food I my chicken strips were overcooked and very plain no flavor at all it tasted like they were thrown in plain flour then fried. I got fries and green beans as a side. the green beans were cold and plain as if they came straight out of the can. the fries were ok after salted and dipped in the honey mustard that came with my strips. I always always finish my meals at the restaurants we eat at. But not this time it was just to gross and plain. I’m mentioned it took almost an hour for our food to come out. There was only 4 other customers it should not have taken this long. With that being said it was a Friday evening! If that tells you anything. This restaurant is falling apart the tables were warn and not properly cleaned the floors were old and dirty the air vent above my head had about an inch of dust and grime stuck to it. The material on the booth seats were dirty and worn they looked lien they have not been properly cleaned in years. This restaurant used to be nice but it’s definitely went down hill unfortunately this leads us to never wanting to return. If chef Ramsey still did kitchen nightmares I think this would be his worse one. I’m tempted to report this place the the BBB and the...
Read moreI came upon visiting this location on the morning of Feb 16th because my mom was placed in the hospital in Newark and she was wanting some good breakfast. I decided to place a carry-out order inside and possibly have a coffee while I wait.
The young hostess told me to go up to the podium and place my carry-out. I stood up there with the menu opened( Which I got the menu myself) for about 15 mins which felt like forever. I was patiently waiting for one of the two older woman behind the podium to greet me in some way. One lady seemed to be quite new. I was expecting someone to make eye contact or a smile at me, but no one did.
After another 5 mins went by I gestured to the frazzled lady closest to me," Ma'am is this where I place a carry-out?" "Yes," she commented, " but we only have one computer to put orders in and she is having a problem with an uber order right now." "Ok." I said. I watched as the line of customers grew longer and the manager came out to help assist with the " Uber Order."
Another 5 mins went by as I stood there menu open starring.... Still no eye contact... No smiles... No one commenting "Just one second." Nothing.
I thought about just leaving and going somewhere else. I decided to try the bar area and I sat down. A few minutes later I was greeted by a server named Amanda. Her smile was so welcoming and warming I forgot about all the troubles I had coming in. She got me a coffee and a water. She took my TO GO orders. Bagged it up and poured me a coffee to go. If I have to visit this location again I will just go to the breakfast bar area instead of dealing with the chaos and unkindness in the front.
Thanks Amanda for your great service and polite attitude. Although, I could tell you were busy I still felt important. It absolutely made my day a...
