It was Monday, July 5th. It was busy. Still no excuse for what happened.
We were seated as a table of 4 in the middle of the room. My wife, myself and our two adult daughters were getting together for breakfast.
The waitress came to our table shortly after we were seated. Because it was busy we were ready with our orders. Therefore, she took our drink orders and meal orders at the same time.
It was 40 minutes later before she ever came back to tell use it shouldn't be too long. Seriously, 40 minutes. I had to get up and go complain about 8 - 10 minutes after the waitress had said that. There were some quick apologies given, but then it was still over an hour total by the time we finally got our food.
I said it was busy, but understand... there were three tables that came in and got seated after us. They were tables of three and four, just like us. Those tables ordered, received their meals, and left, before we ever received our food. Did our waitress forget to put in our order to the grill? I don't know, but after thinking about it, that might be the culprit.
Again, our waitress never checked in with us during that entire 40 minutes. Ridiculous. And then there was no going out of their way to apologize or do anything about it. Yes, there was a quick apology when I got up to complain 10 minutes after being told it would be soon and we still had no food.
The fact that three tables had came in after us, eaten and left, doesn't describe it all. There were other tables, besides those three, that had been seated after us and received their food long before us.
The food was good. The facility was clean. The service...
Read moreWe had been for dinner before and were pleased but never breakfast. We decided, after the local reviews to give them a "morning try". Very busy this Saturday with a bit of a wait, once seated our server seem to be trying to keeping up with the crowd and be as accommodating as she could. Having ordered the Diablo (I believe it was called) omelet and craving something as similar to Mexican as possible, I was very disappointed that what I received seemed as if it all came from a processed boxed mix, just stir, heat and serve. Even the cheese melted like a slice of Kraft singles, with that tough out coating when it chills. The breakfast potatoes although cooked to steamed perfection were very bland and flavorless. That's a first for me. It's rare I EVER add salt to a dish cause I'm at "that age" but you had to add this time, just to give "a bit" of flavor to the potatoes. Even the side portion of sour cream I ordered, which should be more soft and creamy if fresh was thick and more like the consistency of Duncan Hines caned frosting. WOW. That's to bad.
Oh well, we'll keep looking for a moderately priced, family owned local restaurant in the area to patronize that makes us happy and keep the Thanos Diner in mind for dinner meals only, on occasion that is. Until then, I don't think we will be back for another morning meal. McDonald's or BK usually has some kinds "two fer" special and we won't be disappointed, already know what level of quality we'll receive. That's NOT saying much,...
Read moreWe went for fish the first Friday in lent. I can say the fish was excellent (beer battered cod). The experience getting it left me almost too stressed to enjoy the meal. We had quite a long wait for a table but I can excuse that since it was lent and they had been interviewed on the news station earlier in the week. When seated we got menus and were served our drinks right away. Waitress came to get order in a timely manner. It was downhill from there. Ordered the fish dinner and was told “we are out of tartar sauce, someone needs to go to the back and make it but everyone is too busy. Maybe they’ll get to it before your food comes up.” Ordered soup, took forever to get that. That came out with a teaspoon, not soup spoon, no biggie, just odd. We still had no cutlery and no napkins. Soup was immediately followed by our fish and sides but had to ask for cutlery and napkins. Waitress seemed irritated by my asking for this. Asked for tartar sauce, said again they didn’t have any but appeared back in a couple minutes with the sauce. The sauce was awesome. We finished our dinner with never being asked if we wanted a refill on drinks. I’m sure they are busy every Friday in lent, and have been for years. I would think they would be a bit more organized for the crowd. Fish and the tartar sauce was very good, soups and sides were nothing great. Moving on next Friday, wouldn’t...
