I dined in a few weeks ago on a Saturday night with my family. Now, we’ve visited before, and both meal and service were great, so we had the expectation that we would have a similar experience.
Saturday night at around 5-6pm? There were only a few tables seated. I thought, “Great! Maybe we beat the rush!” When we left, it was just as empty. The employees were standing around chatting. Our server was pleasant and helpful.
When we were seated, we noticed that the floor/seats/table were sticky. We ordered a side of fries and 3 orders of boneless wings. My partner had one fry, one bite of a wing, and immediately decided that he was done. Our child ate a few fries and a bite of a wing - done, didn’t want any more.
We visited bb.q because I wanted to go, so I shrugged and had some fries (dipping each one into sauce) and a wing or two. Everything was extremely oily and not crispy as it had been the last time I’d visited. The coating was completely oil-soaked and literally falling off the wings as I tried to eat them. The fries were oily and squishy, not crispy. The oil tasted off to me - I’m not sure why - and the first thing my partner said to me once we left the restaurant was, “Everything was really oily, and the oil didn’t taste right. Did they serve fish? It tastes like fish.”
We did NOT speak to a staff member or send our order back - if the oil was the problem, then I don’t think it’s a problem that can be fixed unless you have an entirely different batch of oil.
I am typically a “take any and all leftovers home for later!” person, and I honestly couldn’t even eat these. The best part of the meal? The pickled radish cup that comes with the wings.
As I said, we have dined here before this experience. It was delicious! The tables were clean, the place was busy, the chicken and fries were crispy and delicious. I finished as much of my meal as I could, and then we took the leftovers home and I probably ate everyone else’s leftovers, too.
I don’t know what happened on this recent visit, but bb.q is too pricey to have a terrible experience with nearly inedible food. I don’t think I’ll be returning to roll the dice for another $50-$60 meal (two adults and a child).
If you choose to visit, I hope that your experience is a better one. I absolutely acknowledge that perhaps we just caught them on an off-day, but we went in there looking forward to a repeat of our last experience and ended up...
Read moreI am not a fan or liars and bad service and unfortunately I experienced both. I went in sometimes in between 7:30 and 8:00 pm about a quarter til 8 and order $22 or $23 dollars worth of chicken. I drove to my daughter’s house which is about 10 minutes away. When I bit into the chicken it was hard and tasted old. I then had someone try another piece to make sure it wasn’t just me and they stated the same thing. I then went back up to the location and spoke with a young man and informed him of my concern and expressed my disgust. He opened up the box and started treating open the remaining 6 pieces that were in the box of the 8 piece I had purchased. He agreed that the chicken was hard and not fresh, but that he was unable to give me a refund, nor did he offer to replace the meal. I told him that I would call in the morning and come back to get my refund. He took the chicken and I left. The next morning I called about 11am and spoke with a lady named Alexa and explained what was going on and she said that she needed to call her husband and she would call me right back. When she called back a few minutes later and tells me that there will be no refunds because I had consumed half the meal, which there was only two pieces of chicken at which point there was a back and forth and I asked for the corporate number and she refused to give it to me, she got smart and I told her she needed to shut up and listen because she kept talking over me and then she proceeded to use profane words which I then engaged and used profanity back towards her, she hung up in my face. A few minutes later her husband who said he was the owner, Yang Semo, and asked what was going on to which I proceeded to explain what had happened. He voiced concerns about people not paying for their meal and that he lost staff members because of it, and I told him that was irrelevant and had nothing to do with my situation because I was a paying customer, and that I would not be returning and that I planned to file a complaint and let all of my friends and family know what had happened. I would advise that you check your food before you take it out of the building and before you pay for it so you can know what your paying for. If I could give a negative rating I would. BUYER...
Read moreDON'T USE THEIR APP. I placed an order on their(buggy) app and a tip was automatically applied so I called to cancel it. Turns out despite cancelling my order I was still charged for the food.
Tried calling and the first girl couldn't help me and handed the phone to a second girl who was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Said their store had nothing to do with it since it was placed with Doordash which isn't true. I ordered with their app and was going to pick it up not delivery which would've made sense if it was for doordash.
Told me to contact corporate, have a nice day and immediately hung up. I ordered around 9 but she was no help. First girl tried her best to understand my situation and I don't blame her but the second one had a horrible attitude.
I love the fries and rice they had here but after this interaction I won't be coming back. I dined in here with my friends for the first time last week so I hoped to get some to take home. There's a million other korean fried chicken places and hopefully a different location of this franchise because this experience has left a sour taste.
Their chicken is dry and tough with a very thick batter and sauce on top of that. Super long wait and not worth it. Go to Chicken Express at this point or Kyuramen which has delicous karaage. And the bulgogi rice bowl has a picture of a small pile of picked radish but I only got two pieces in mine.
I did message corporate and really hope they'll be able to refund me. Edit: I spoke with her a bit and she explained that because it was marked as "picked up" she couldn't immediately do a refund for me. Said they'll get back to me which I appreciate.
I don't understand why you marked it as "picked up" when I had already asked to cancel it.
Edit 2: Doordash is no help either. They're saying since it is marked as "complete" they can't do any kind of refund or anything for me.
Customer service sucks and is completely useless. Lost a little under $25 because the restaurant didn't want to refund me and said my order was complete when obviously not. I called to have it cancelled and yet you still took my money because I wanted to...
