We had just left the clinic, my mom with her new cast freshly set, both of us hungry and ready for something filling. I wanted her to get some good protein in her system, so we decided to stop at Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. It wasn’t just about grabbing food; it was about giving her something satisfying after a long day.
She went with a hot dog—plain, dry, just the way she likes it. I kept it simple too: a burger with meat, cheese, and pickles only. But the real test was the fries. My mom has a very particular standard when it comes to fries: they have to be crispy. Not just golden-brown, but pushed just past the normal point, to that extra-crunchy stage where every bite breaks with a snap. Most places never get it right. And if they don’t? She simply won’t eat them. To her, anything less isn’t worth the effort.
So when I walked up to the counter, I looked the attendant square in the eyes and asked if they could do us a small favor—just leave the fries in the fryer a little bit longer. “Overcook them for us,” I explained, “because we actually prefer them that way.” He nodded, caught on immediately, and even repeated it back: “Oh, so you mean just leave them in the fryer a little longer?” Exactly. And when he said he could do it, I believed him.
We got our drinks—my Dr. Pepper, her unsweet tea—and settled at a table. Within about five minutes, our order was called. And sure enough, when we opened the tray, those fries were everything we hoped for. They were perfect. Crisped to the edge of overdone, golden but with that deep crunch that my mom has been searching for in fry after fry at countless other restaurants. She didn’t just pick at them—she ate every single one. That never happens. For once, she didn’t push the fries aside; she savored them.
Her hot dog was just right. My burger was spot on. The whole meal hit the spot in exactly the way you hope it will when you’re tired, hungry, and in need of comfort. But what really stood out wasn’t just the food—it was the fact that the staff actually followed through. Plenty of times at other places, you make that kind of special request and it gets forgotten or brushed off. This time, it didn’t. And because of that, it turned into one of the best little meals we’ve had in a long time.
We left full, happy, and already knowing we’ll be coming back. Sometimes it’s the smallest detail—the crisp of a fry—that makes all...
Read moreI initially had a 5 star rating because I love the food here.
I am down to 1 star. I have had more bad experiences here than good. It seems like 3/4 nights the crew is completely incompetent. It's frustrating to wait 20 minutes with only 1 or 2 cars in front of you for food that definitely is not fresh. How do I know it's usually not fresh? Because I finally had a fresh one today so I have something to compare to. Here is my most recent awful trip to Freddy's (though not the only one).
Let me explain. Tonight I went to Freddy's after work, about 7:30pm. I wait the usual 20 minutes behind 2 cars for my food. I ordered a #2 with no mustard or onions and a large diet Dr Pepper, and the lady at the window seemed really annoyed that I existed. She did offer me a pup cup for my dog, but in an oddly rude manner. I said that I appreciated it, and offered to pay for it, to which she was annoyed. She shoves me the bag of food and I ask, "could I get a fry sauce please?" and she barks, "it's in the bad -.-". I said "Okay, thank you, have a good night" and she just slammed the window (I still didn't have my drink).
I drive to a parking spot. My pup cup is ICECREAM and not whipped cream. My burger had literally 6 entire rings of onion, and the most mustard I've ever seen on a burger. I had NO fry sauce in the bag. My fries were cold and the fry container was about half full. It seemed intentional. I walk in and ask if it's possible to get a new burger without onion and mustard. The dude behind the counter looked like he was on drugs or something, he was acting very very very odd. I wait about 1-3 minutes for my fresh burger (WHY IS IT NOT USUALLY THIS FAST? I swear these people have no sense of urgency at all)
My oddly fast remake is the best burger I've ever had from Freddy's, and makes it so obvious how not fresh my burger usually is.
I worked at Burger King for 2 years in school. I understand that fast food sucks, but this location takes the cake for worst crew ever. They're awful. I always try to justify my visits by the food, but this place just sucks. I'm so sick and tired of this crew being unforgivable bad. 1 bad experience is understandable, but it's far too consistent at this location. It might as well shut down, the workers don't really want their jobs anyway. If you want to try Freddy's, go to 2nd street in Edmond. The crew is consistently...
Read moreWe arrived 45 mins til close. Waited almost 10 mins to order while@ the intercom. Was @ window another 20 mins. Mind u...there was only 1 other car in front and didnt see anyone inside. They took our order as normal without letting us know they were out of stuff. Idk about ya'll but to me, the pickles make the burgers @ Freddy's. I had a decent order. 2 plain bacon chz, and 3 regular double bacon (one plain w/ everything on the side..lettuce, onions, pickles, mustard) didn't get any pickles on any of the burgers that were regular and wasn't even told they were out til after. Didn't get the side items and when I asked for the side items, I was given lettuce and onions. Asked about the pickles and mustard and was given attitude by the cook and was told they ran out. Not realizing he meant overall. Ya'll had flimsy cup holders, couldn't hold 4 drinks and spilled in my car (seat, floor board, and all over me). I asked for fry sauce and didn't get any. When asked for anything...had very rude responses. A co-worker had to shut the drive thru window because he starting to get a temper....just From me asking where my items were. I paid for my meal. If your employees don't know how to act and or do their job...they don't need to be there. I assume he was having a very bad night because I was very nice and patient for as long as I had to wait and with the missing items. This is the worst Freddy's I've ever been to. This was a few months back and forgot to leave a review. Have not gone back, nor will I ever. And I love Freddy's. I was missing them when I move to Cali and this was a big disappointment...
