Alright, let's talk about Happy Hog BBQ in OKC. Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you – this place is a serious contender for some of the best barbecue in the city. It's the kind of spot you might drive past a hundred times without realizing the deliciousness that lies within. Think of it as a true "hole in the wall" gem, the kind of place where the focus is squarely on the food, and they absolutely nail it. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by that unmistakable smoky aroma that instantly gets your mouth watering. The atmosphere is down-to-earth and unpretentious, likely with well-worn tables and chairs, and maybe even a bit of a line forming – a good sign, in my book! But let's get to the real star of the show: the barbecue. Happy Hog doesn't mess around. Their meats are cooked low and slow, achieving that perfect balance of smoky flavor, tender texture, and juicy goodness. Whether you go for their ribs, pulled pork, brisket, or sausage, you can taste the care and expertise that goes into each cut. The bark on their brisket is legendary, offering a satisfying chew before giving way to incredibly moist meat. And the pulled pork? Forget about needing sauce – it's flavorful enough to stand on its own, though their sauce is a welcome addition for those who like a little extra tang or sweetness. The sides, while perhaps not the main event, are definitely more than an afterthought. You can expect classic BBQ accompaniments done right – creamy coleslaw, hearty mac and cheese, smoky baked beans, and maybe even some perfectly crisp fries. They complement the richness of the meat without trying to steal the spotlight. Now, being a hole-in-the-wall, don't expect fancy plating or a sprawling drink menu. The charm of Happy Hog lies in its simplicity and dedication to quality. You come here for the authentic barbecue experience, and that's exactly what you get. In short, if you're looking for fantastic, no-frills barbecue in Oklahoma City, Happy Hog BBQ is a must-try. Don't be intimidated by its humble appearance; the incredible flavors coming out of that kitchen speak volumes. It's the kind of place that locals know and love, and once you've tried it, you'll understand why. Just be prepared for a potentially small space and a focus on the food – you won't be...

My husband and my daughter and I have never been to Oklahoma. We came here for the first time to visit my sister. While in our hotel, we were referred to this place. I was so excited to have barbecue in Oklahoma because they seem to have gone downhill in many of the places I was used to in Texas. We ordered two beef rib dinners, one turkey dinner, one sausage link sandwich, annd a rib end dinner. When we got back to the hotel and opened everything up, the beef dinners were both pork ribs which we were initially told they were out of. While the rib tip (ends) were plentiful in portion size, the smell was off. When I went to taste it it tasted off as well as though the pork had gone bad. It was also tough. I spit it out because of the taste and the smell. It’s a good thing my husband and my niece actually eat pork because they ordered beef ribs but got spare ribs. Turns out they were not out of spare ribs, perhaps they were out of beef ribs but beef ribs generally cost more and we paid $65+ . The staff was extremely pleasant. It’s noteworthy that we came at the end of the day because we had been running around all day. They were rushing and perhaps that’s why the meat was tough but I don’t know why it was smelled and tasted off. Hopefully it was just a bad day. My sister, on the other hand, did say that her turkey was extremely tender. They also loved the...

I have had the pleasure of tasting soulfood all over the United States from Cali to NY down to the Deep South an lawd have mercy. If i could give George's a 10 star I WOULD. I was looking for some cobbler after a long day of work an found this spot. The cobbler was TOO delicious. It was so good I had to come back the very next day to try the food. I decided to get the 2 meat combo with ribs an brisket, bbq beans, potato salad and of course another peach cobb for my troubles. Lol. The meat was phenomenal. I dont know who cooked the ribs an brisket but they deserve a trophy. I was blown away by how flavorful everything was an how it was so tender an fell right off the bone, im really not doing them any justice. And to top it off everything was affordable. The only thing I'll complain about is the fact that I was not able to eat it all in one sitting lol. After eating half of my plate I had no room for my cobbler 😩😂 These about to be some fire leftovers. Also must mention that the customer service was Top Tier, everyone was very helpful and welcoming. I loved the decor an the Kobe portrait. Highly Recommend 10 out of 10. Pro tip - The hot BBQ sauce is hot so make sure you ask for hot an reg...

First time visiting this establishment. Good customer service, was not rushed to order and they have plenty of menu options. I had four ribs, corn on the cob, potato salad , BBQ beans, a slice of lemon and 7-Up cake (could not decide on which dessert I wanted more lol). The side portions are okay, but if you are hungry, it may not truly satisfy your taste buds. The meat and cake portions did not disappoint. I did want a slice of their chocolate pound cake, but they were sold out of it. The prices are reasonable and fair. This place has the neighborhood "mom and pop" restaurant feel to it and I do recommend you visit. The jazz music playing helps to set the mood and makes you feel like you are at a family cookout. There was a constant flow of customers coming and going, so I knew this place had the good BBQ. In case you are wondering, both slices of cake were mouth watering and delicious. Check the hours if you are planning to visit for dinner, as I believe they are not open past 5 or 6 p.m.
