Smoothie King — Restaurant in Oklahoma City

Overall, the guy that helped me, Aiden (not sure on spelling), was amazing and super nice! He was cheerful and smiling the whole time he helped me! The reason I am giving a four star review is because the manager, Justin I later learned, treated the employees ABSOLUTELY awful and right in front of customers, including myself. I came in on a Friday and wanted to get the free upsize (who doesn't?!) but the app was not scanning right to take off the discount. Aiden worked to try and figure out the issue himself but realized it wasn't going to work so he went to go grab the manager. This is where the rude manager, Justin, comes into play. First, Aiden started to go into the back to grab Justin but was clearly asked rudely why he was coming into the back and if he actually needed help. Aiden explained the free upsize wasn't working and needed assistance. Justin comes out to the register and, instead of using this moment as a learning opportunity to teach Aiden how to correctly ring up the free upsize so he can keep it from happening in the future, Justin criticized him with the rudest tone and told him it was because he didn't even use the right option in the first place and Aiden gave the most defeated sounding "sorry" before trying to step in and help the other employees finish orders. How was Aiden supposed to know if he obviously isn't being shown the right option in the first place?! Justin rung up my order himself and was very clearly outwardly showing he was pissed off and just took my money, gave me change, and headed back to the backroom as fast as he could even though there was only one other person behind me waiting and he could have helped her to keep the line moving and let Aiden help the clearly backed up drive thru. I felt unwelcomed by Justin and as someone who worked in the food industry before (Braum's), that is not how you deal with employees and especially not customers. Once I got my smoothie, I took the time to tell all three workers in the front that I hope they have a great day and don't let the rude manager ruin their day and work drive because they are doing a great job! I don't care if that manager, Justin, woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning but he clearly needs training himself on how to be a proper manager. NOT okay at all! I would advise everyone to read this, if you’re looking for muscle gains or to lose weight, this is the LAST place you’ll want to go. I’m a former employee and worked here for a good chunk of time. Your smoothies are filled with sugar and artificial ingredients, the strawberries have sugar, the syrups have sugar, we even add sugar on top of all of that. The 32oz Strawberry Hulk has 197g of sugar, for reference, a 12oz can of coke has 37g. Even the Slim-N-Trim Blueberry “for the people who wanna slim down” has 51g of sugar in the 32oz, not very slim if you ask me. There’s also something called “E&E’s” which is add-ons for your smoothie that usually cost you a dollar extra, the employees compete to sell the most add ons to upsell you on your smoothie, mind you, these add-ons do not work. They’re also overpriced especially for the amount you’re getting. The bananas are disgusting, the manager lets the bananas sit out and rot as knats fly out of them and around them. Smoothies are fine, over priced and you may never get them, but they taste fine. This particular location is incapable of even basic service though. I had an order taken by another customer cause of their frankly idiotic pick up system (little caddy near the front of the store that they write the names on the cups with what appears to be a highlighter, wonder why my order got stolen?)

Asked for a remake, waited 10 minutes, watched another remake that came after me get what they ordered and decided to see what's up, was told I'd be refunded, would get a gift card and they give me a call when they get my order ready. Never got the call, had to go ask for the remake when they had no one in the store so I didn't overload the people working here. Have yet to receive anything but an email from corporate that accomplished nothing.

Please just go to Tropical Smoothie Cafe, or better yet, take 20 minutes of your day and make your own, cheaper and a much better experience than this...
