For starters, I’m completely aware that this is a fast food taco joint. So my expectations were not high to begin with. When I got to the drive-through, I was greeted immediately with a welcome to Taco Bueno. “ I’ll be with you in a moment.” That was encouraging. The person was friendly. Just over 16 minutes later, they came back to take my order. Again, the person was friendly. They repeated my order back and completed all the steps of service expected. It only took a few minutes to get my food once the order was placed, and I was sent on my way. I got home and unpacked the order, and everything was there as ordered. So far, other than the 16-minute wait between the greeting and placing the order, everything was pretty good. So now we get to the food. I remember Taco Bueno being pretty decent when I was a younger man. Not so much anymore. The crispy tacos were filled and not puny, but the taco shells were, to put it simply, awful! They were chewy and not crisp, like maybe they had been sitting out for a few days in a humid environment. It kind of ruined the tacos, even though that filling was decent. The soft tacos were about as puny as they could be, almost a polar opposite of the crispy taco as far as the filling was concerned. The soft tortilla was very doughy and stuck to your teeth. The nacho salad was loaded with toppings, and the toppings were fairly good. No complaints really until you got to the chips. The chips were not crispy. They were extremely stale, lifeless, and flavorless. Things that are honestly a stretch to be called chips. The meal was $39.62 for two of us. It was a decent amount of food, but very subpar and not worth the money or the time it took to get it. It’s unfortunate that we chose to eat Taco Bueno versus a local taco shop. We were in a hurry to get home and stopped there for convenience. We won’t make that mistake again. If we want tacos, we will definitely eat at local taco shops next time. Bueno, you could do yourself a favor and perform quality control checks...
Read moreI love taco bueno, they are without a doubt the best fast food Mexican/tex-mex around, and are even better than a lot if the local crappy Mexican dine in restaurants. However this location in particular has been on a downhill slope for quite some time. The staff seems to have gotten a bit "friendlier" lately, but many of the times I have gone in to dine in or carry out, the staff has been nothing but super loud mouthed, profane, dirty looking thugs and thuggettes. When I go to the drive through, it is not uncommon to wait 20-40 minutes in a line that you can not get out of, because you're trapped by curb's and cars. The last two times I have been, I ordered crispy beef tacos and soft beef tacos. The first time I ordered 5 crispy tacos and all the tacos but one had way less than half a taco worth of ingredients. By the time I got home and saw it, I was so pissed, but so hungry I ate all but one of the tacos and saved the last to take in and show the mgr the next day. They did replace my order, and they were full and hot. I just went back tonight and ordered the 10.99 box of 10 tacos, 6 crispy, 4 soft.. Not only are all the tacos filled with less than half full ingredients, the shells are disgusting, stale and cold, the meat is cold and tastes like cold congealed fat, the texture is horrible, and I'm extremely pissed off.. i hate taco Bell with a passion, but they are cheaper, faster, get your order right, and it's always hot, fresh, and filled to the top with the proper ingredients. I'm giving bueno one or two more chances, and I'm done and will quit recommending them to anyone else, as I have always done before. This location should be ashamed, and disappointed in themselves, and the mgrs need to hire better quality employees that take pride in their work, thier appearance, and they're service, and the mgr needs to be checking orders being made on the line to ensure freshness, temperatures, and portion size!!! Please get...
Read moreDuring the day it is ok....but after 6pm, the quality in service and especially the food is absolutely terrible. The people working there you can hear through drive through using profanity back in the kitchen, acting immaturely, and often the person working window is in such a hurry to get rid of you that they don't even make eye contact with you. I had one evening where she dropped my coin change when handing me my change because she didn't even care to look out of the window as she handed it to me..she was in such a hurry to get her had in as the window was closing that she pulled her hand away and never even said sorry. Instead she gave me this raised eyebrow look when I said "seriously?".
In the evenings, the taco shells are stale, there are a LOT of wilted lettuce shreds, sometimes there are inions mixed in where things are spilled into others in the kitchen, and the food is just slopped together. I can only imagine how dirty the kitchen is this time of night. I rarely go here anymore, and since the other close location (which is far better) is gone now...I don't give much of my business here.
If I do go...I go during the day. Although I think the prices have sky rocketed to nearly 5 times the price I remember a long time ago (I mean, it is what it is), you don't get what you used to. In fact, when I order the large orders of tacos for work, I get about 70% lettuce crammed into the shell, a sprinkle of cheese, and a sprinkle of meat. They are the worst tacos I have had in a long time because of this....even though the meat is good...you can't taste it through the pound of lettuce crammed into it.
It's sad to see this place go down hill like it has...this used to be THE place to get tacos when...
