The Indian Belly — Restaurant in Olathe

Tried Indian Belly today! Got the Butter Chicken Bowl. I would give my experience a 3.6-3.8/5 Stars. I know it’s a new restaurant so they’re still experimenting but I’m all about giving honest feedback.

Butter Chicken: 4.5/5 the chicken was cooked well and not dry. The sauce was amazing but I felt like it could’ve used some spice to it. Portion was underwhelming for the price you’re paying.

Rice: 1/5: Tasted so cheap and lacked flavor. Reminded me of yellow rice from a Chinese Buffet. Could’ve made better rice at home.

Salad: 1/5: Unnecessary to the dish

Price: $14.99 for what you get is not worth it in my honest opinion. Should be $11-12.99 at best. If they gave you a bigger portion then I could justify it. Improve the rice and spices a bit and I think it would be perfect. Sad that the sauce is amazing but the rest is lack luster.

Would I recommend it to people? Sure to try it out but is it a must try? Not in my opinion. Which makes me sad because I live in Olathe and we just lost Raj Mahal due to the highway construction. This place is like an Indian Chipotle/Panda Express, it’s nice for convenience. Going to come back in a few weeks to try again and hope for a better review to give out. The Grand Opening is Actually the Grand Meh

Shocking that this was unseasoned food for an 'authentic' Indian restaurant. The butter chicken's tomato base tasted similar to Chef Boyardee. Butter chicken? This is the most common item ordered, if you're skimping on that during the grand opening, yikes. Same with the yellow rice, which has no seasonings or flavor. The house salad is iceberg lettuce and cucumbers. I was surprised with the lack of spice or excitement when eating this, especially for a new restaurant. Also, take a look at their website, it's chatgpt & poke bowl images, like, please don't eat here before checking, y'all.

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! We ordered the Butter Chicken Bowl, Grilled Steak Bowl, and the Crispy Chicken — everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, and the portions were generous too.

The service was excellent — the staff were kind, respectful, and made us feel very welcome. My whole family enjoyed the meal, including my picky-eater daughter, which says a lot!
