Chubby's Smok'n BBQ — Restaurant in Old Saybrook

I really tried! I turned the other cheek when I was not able to order just a $12.00 chicken sandwich, but was forced to order a side to bring my total up to the minimum order total of $15. Then, there was a problem with their information on Yelp, preventing them from running my credit card via Yelp. So, I even went the extra mile, and tried to order directly from their website from my laptop. This time, they tacked on a hidden $.99 service charge (for a pick-up order, that already has an order minimum of $15.00, and can only be paid with a credit card, with MUCH difficulty). I decided they don't deserve my money. NOT a good way to launch a new business...Customers should not have to feel that they are paying for the privilege of giving your new ghost...

Very OK. Cute restaurant that we have never been in before. That being said there was 0 signage directing us to the fact that the chicken restaurant was also in the breakfast place. After working out the location we ordered a Korean chicken sandwich with waffle fries ($17). The sandwich was pretty small and the serving of fries was too. I usually dont like large portions but the food should be priced accordingly. The bun was extremely tasty. The toppings on the sandwich made it very messy but had good flavor, the chicken however was bland and a bit mushy. Combined the flavor was okay, but I probably wouldnt go again. First time ordering from this establishment. Unfortunately not the experience I hoped for. Ordered just a chicken sandwich for takeout. The chicken was severely overcooked. So dry I only ate half and threw the rest out. The breading crunch was hardened, flaky, and barely chewable.

I will give this place another shot as mistakes happen, but definitely not the first impression I was hoping for!

UPDATE: Owner reached out immediately and I believe will actually look into this issue and discuss with the kitchen. This restaurant has an attentive, caring owner and deserves our business in the community. I will absolutely be returning for another visit because of the...
