Pizza wasn't very good, price was a little high, and worst of all, I suspect they don't honor their promotions.
I went here for the first time tonight intending to use a $25 gift card that I was given for supporting a kids community theater charity. I was told that Rosati's had donated this gift card to the charity. I had the receipt for the gift card along with the card itself, so it seemed legitimate. I'm fairly sure no one had dishonestly used it before me because the pin number box was not scratched off until I tried to use it tonight and I trust the people running the charity. When the first cashier rang me up he said there was no remaining balance on the gift card. He went to get another guy from the back, who said all he could do was try to enter the number manually. He scratched off the pin number then and tried to enter it. When he did, it still came up with no balance. He insisted that myself or someone else had already used the card. He told me to look at the website on the back of the card to view the transaction history. I sat down to look through the website, but I could not find anywhere I could check the balance. Another lady eventually came out of the back and asked if I had been helped yet. I asked her if she could show me where the gift card balance history is on the website, and she said it's not on there. She said the only thing she could do was call corporate tomorrow to ask if they could check the balance for me.
Instead of walking out then, I decided to go ahead and pay via credit card (after all, I was hungry). It was a below average experience. I ordered the Hawaiian deep dish. The good: When I got home, the pizza was hot and packaged very nicely. It was in fact a true Chicago deep dish pizza (not just some thick crust like they do at other pizza places). The bad: The BBQ sauce they put in the Hawaiian was way too sweet, and they probably used too much of it. It completely drowned out the taste of the pizza. The crust was a little tough. The Canadian bacon topping was minimal (and not very flavorful), and the pizza was mostly filled with the cheaper ingredients--pineapple (which seemed like it just came from a can) and sliced tomato (which was also very watery with no flavor).
The price was a little expensive for what I expected. For this one10" Hawaiian deep dish pizza it came out to $21. They charge the same for each topping, so I probably would have been better of to "create your own" than go with their "favorite combinations." I'm a huge fan of Hawaiian, but this was one of the worst adaptations of it that I've tried.
I'm doubtful that Rosati's ever loaded the gift card with money or properly activated it. If they can regain my trust by showing a gift card transaction history where someone dishonestly used it before it was given to me, I might bump them up to the three-star rating. If not, I'll probably report it to back to the charity and ask others to be cautious about taking promotions or donations from Rosati's.
All in all, I don't think I'll be...
Read moreI have ordered from this location three times; two of the three times were a disaster. More notably my visit today being the worst. I placed an Order online for a deep dish and garlic bread. I paid and got a confirmation that more order would be ready in 50 min. I arrived one hour after ordering. I was told that my order would take another 15-20 min because they were really busy. So I waited patiently in my car. I went back in to check on a status when 15 min had elapsed. The lobby was chaos; at least 15 angry customers including myself were all waiting for orders. The owner finally came up and helped the young girl at the counter, but he did so begrudgingly. A few customers were helped before me then my turn came. I politely provided the information for my order and showed my phone as to how long I’d been waiting and when I put my order in. John, the self proclaimed owner, became flustered with me and very brash stating that they had received 100 orders all at once and that the computer lost my order, so what was he supposed to do- he didn’t know what to do for me. He repeated he didn’t know what I wanted him to do that he was bombarded. Meanwhile, I’m standing there just starting at him. He was incredibly rude, short tempered, and seriously lacks customer service. I told him, I don’t know what he needed to do but I wanted my money back. He indicated he would make me a pizza but since it was a deep dish it would be an hour. I requested a refund. So he voided my order. In all that exchange he never once apologized. Not once. I’ll drive out of my way to get a pie. I’ll never be a customer again. The proof is in the pudding- all of the bad reviews that John comments on, are full of excuses and not one does he fall on the sword and...
Read moreAugust 2022 I know I wrote the bad review a couple months ago but after speaking with the ownership group I gave Rosati's another try. I will say they have turned the corner in the right direction and I enjoyed the pizza and the experience! I would recommend them for some great pizza!
2 Months ago Being from Chicago and very familiar with Rosatis I was super excited to know it was in my area. My orders early on we’re perfect and the taste was just like home and then recently I believe the location went through an ownership change and on a recent order I noticed the crust on the deep dish changed. I called to inquire and I was told the normal ingredients weren’t available and they used substitute ingredients. I appreciated the honesty didn’t ask for a refund or discount and I was willing to give then another try, I called to order this week and I asked up front if the traditional ingredients were available and explained my previous experience and I was told yes they had the correct ingredients. Once I received the pizza I quickly realized this was not the deep dish crust I was accustomed to and I called to talked to a manager. My experience got worse the Manager said I was giving them a hard time and the pizza was the same and he hung up on me. After experiencing that rudeness I called the corporate office to inform them of my experience and I’m waiting to hear back. It’s disappointing that someone who’s supposed to represent a Brand feels they can treat people in that manner. It was unprofessional and disrespectful on...
