We loved this place! I definitely would have given it a 5 star review....
However I had a recent HORRIBLE experience with a man harassing everyone who walked by him. He literally ran at me and my children screaming telling us we needed to take his toys that he wanted to give my kids they were filthy and it was disgusting and he was definitely on drugs. He was swearing and using the statue to hang dry his laundry.
Of course this has nothing to do with the park right?
well here's why it bothered me there were employees out there park employees I guess cleaning things cleaning the windows to a building cleaning the restroom but they said nothing when this man was swearing and screaming and acting like a psycho around all the kids!
After he ran at my children... I decided to leave along with many of the other parents at the park. He made me really uncomfortable and scared my children and nobody seems to care when they clearly disturbed man on drugs harassing women and children until they leave the park (or his living room apparently because he had completely set up his tent right there on the pier)
I think I might have had the bystander effect I wanted to call the police but I kept thinking in my head somebody else must've called police as myself my children and many of the other parents were fleeing the park to get away from him I think we all assumed the other would call the police!
here's my question ...why wouldn't one of the park employees call the police? I should've and I didn't now I really don't like...
Read moreOur 3 children ages 5, 4 & 3 love this little park. It has many different age appropriate toys. One of our kids favorite things is a swing that is designed for a parent and child to be able to swing together, it has a "baby" swing that is attached in front of and facing an adult sized swing. There are 2 different merry-go-round type of things that are shaped kind of like a Christmas tree, one of them being large with a spot up above the main "landing" that kids can climb up to and ride, and the other one is smaller much more designed for either toddlers or young children. There is a fairly decent public bathrooms available. It is also set right beside a boardwalk that goes along part of a marina in downtown Olympia. If you follow the boardwalk one way you will end up at a tower you can climb to over look the marina and round the corner is the farmers market. If you follow the board walk the other way you will end up at a really cool little splash park/water feature with a store just about 1 block away. I would very highly recommend this park to families because it has everything and if you want more all of downtown Olympia is within walking distance of quite a few different...
Read moreMy friend and I traveled up for Harbour days. This park is an easy five minute jaunt from the Port park along a beautiful boardwalk. Parking here is not easy as it's a busy area but we didn't have to go too far and the meters are free on weekends. There is rotating statuary displayed along the boardwalk and plenty of ship sizes and types to view. There was even an all electric ship the public was invited to tour.
The artisans ranged from $150 jewelry to $5 agate stones and inbetween. There was a Longview startup t-shirt company who focuses on sustainable cotton materials and PNW design, as well as a young lady selling delicious gluten free baked goods, reusable napkins and beesewax wrap in place of plastic wrap.
There were long canoes with groups rowing to the beat of a drum in the sound. That was fun to see. You are also less than ten minutes from a beautiful, switchback stroll up the north side hill by the Capital grounds.
I highly recommend this area if you...
