I wanted to update my review, not something I normally do, however Star Indian continues to stand out in my mind and for that it deserves a more detailed second review.
Every once in a while, one comes across a culinary gem that redefines the dining experience, and Star Indian is undoubtedly one such place. Nestled in the heart of our city just north of 132nd and Center, this restaurant, the owner and his wife have time and again showcased its remarkable capability to amalgamate tradition and innovation, creating a fine dining spectacle that leaves you asking for more.
Right from the moment you step in, the warm, inviting ambiance envelopes you in an ethereal experience. An aesthetic mix of traditional Indian elements and contemporary design, Star Indian exudes a relaxed yet rich charm that immediately puts you at ease. But, the essence of this space lies in its sensory delights - the sight of their beautifully presented dishes, the aroma wafting from their bustling kitchen, the tastes that delight the palate.. It all comes together to create an enchanting atmosphere.
Star Indian isn't only about food. The restaurant offers an extensive list of wines and spirits.
What truly elevates the experience at Star Indian, beyond its ambience and cuisine, is the exemplary service. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and more than willing to offer suggestions. Their passion for what they do is palpable, adding a personal touch to the experience.

First Review
I love Indian food. Picked up food from here for the first time. Now I regret driving by the place for 8 months and not stopping sooner.
The restaurant is Beautiful! Designed by the owners wife I’m told. Fabulous job.
The food was exquisite. Mouth watering flavors. I’m a tough customer, I’ve eaten at close to every Indian restaurant in town, and I would give this place 6 stars if I could.
If you enjoy Indian food, this place is must visit. We will be back, in fact we will be regulars, the environment is great, the food is off the chart.
With hundreds of reviews and a perfect 5.0 rating, I was suspicious. But now I...
Read moreWorst experience I've ever had. I am unable to recommend because we never received food.
My girlfriend and I arrived around 6:15 p.m. We were greeted very kindly and seated right away. We waited around 5 minutes and a woman came and gave us some water. Another table was seated next to us and the waiter was talking to the man as if he was a regular and he immediately took his drink and food order. We waited around another 5 minutes and the same waiter came and took our drink and food order. It was a little off-putting but I didn't think too much of it at that point. About 10 minutes went by and the table seated next to us, that came in after us, received their drinks and appetizer. Another table of a family of 4 was seated close to us and they took their order immediately. A couple more tables were seated in the next 10 minutes.
At this point we had waited 20 minutes and received only our drinks. We watched the tables around us, that were all seated after us, slowly start to receive all of their food orders. The couple next to us. The family of 4. A table of 3 girls. Another couple on the other side of the restaurant. All of them seated after us and all of them received food. About 30 minutes had passed since we placed our food order. My girlfriend mentioned to a passing by server that we had ordered our food and it has been a while and he said okay and walked away.
At this point I told my girlfriend, I will wait 5 more minutes and then we are leaving. Someone came and brought us a bowl of cold noodles and said "Try these noodles while you wait for your food, it's coming."
So we waited about 5 minutes and decided to get up and leave. As we were leaving, the waiter tried to stop us and said "Excuse me, your food is coming", and I said, "it's too late. We watched 5 or more tables be seated after us and received their food. We are done waiting." And we left.
I'll never go back. Mistakes happen. I understand. I'm a patient person. But nobody, including the waiter even said anything. They just continued to serve others...
Read moreOkay, so I am a bit of a foodie and have been on an Indian kick because they always have something I haven’t tried. For the first time in my life I had the goat curry. Now the waiter warned me it was spicy when I asked for medium, and kept reminding me of it, and so I said mild or medium however you make it best. I also had the soup and naan, both of which were very good. I never had chicken in my soup like that, so I went with mild.
There was this one waiter after I got my goat curry that watched my water like a hawk. When I dumped the rice in, I thought I had gotten medium and was woofing it down with coughing breaks. Delicious and the most tender meat I ever had, but it bit back when I had to take out the bones in the goat.
This waiter kept asking “spicy?” And just loaded my water before it got a quarter full. I didn’t make much of a scene, but I did have to clear my sinuses in the restroom. Best curry I ever had and when I came back from the bathroom, they had left me a small bowl of rice pudding as a treat.
I go to look at the receipt and I come to find that he went with mild.
What’s medium in two different Indian places in town is mild here. The waiters here know their stuff and was able to gauge me before I got something past my tolerance. While that is something to remember if you go here, if you like heat, come here! Next thing I get, I am getting mild and bringing Kleenex with a smile.
Everyone here made my day! Definitely coming here again when my husband has a workout at...
