Review of Early Bird-Regency 0/5 âď¸ Be warned: Manager did not want to talk to us, Overpriced, Old food, Stale, burnt, and too salty.
I took my family to eat brunch thinking it would be amazing based on word of mouth and the menu listings. I couldn't have been more disappointed. We ordered an americano, hazelnut latte, mocha, the chicken and waffles, the Ham I'm Benny, Hash Holes as an app, and the Cubano sandwich. The bill came out to $79.20. My sister's hash browns were old, burnt, cold, and stale. The hollaindase in the "Ham I am Benny" was disgusting (her words not mine). My chicken and waffles were not great đŤ¤: waffles tasted bland (like from a box and not the good kind), chicken was cooked well and lightly breaded with what tasted similarly to the breading that they used in their hash holes (cornmeal, seasonings and LOTS of salt), the chicken waffles had a sausage gravy on the side that was extremely salty (I had to wash my teeth to get it out when I got home), the scrambled eggs were on the crustier side. On the Cubano my mom had, she said it was disappointing because the meat didn't taste well and it wasn't pressed. Finally, mAll the coffee drinks we had ranging between 4-6$ a piece-not worth it. The app: "hash holes" good name, but concept didn't work well, the seasoning they used in the coat or the hash brown balls was overwhelming in flavor and again too salty. I mustered the courage to warm the waitress that the hash browns were old and stale. She was so kind and offered fresh ones but we couldn't stay due to a schedule conflict and also because I didn't want to risk getting bad food again. I asked to speak to a manager, the manager did not come out to talk but sent the waitress to apologize and say that Because I had already given them my credit card, it had been run and nothing could be done. They could have totally done a refund but didn't want to. I felt bad for the waitress bc she was actually very kind.
I was so disappointed because we didn't eat most of the food because it tasted bad, it made our family sick, and on top we were out of $80. Finally, the ambiance: loud music, random lady with 3 children came in to have a talk with 2-3 employees at the bar area (looks like she was fighting verbally with a male employee(?), and FYI not family friendly if you have young children (not that all places have to be but fyi).
Thank God for Roast Coffeehouse because after the horrible experience we had here having that amazing coffee and cozy pastry really flipped...
Read moreThis is our second try at Early Bird, and this is a different location. Our wait time was more than 30 mins (sorta normal at most places on a Sunday morning) at first we were Not getting coffee because our first try was very weak @ midtown but our server, Emily, assured us they changed to a darker roast. We were pleasantly surprised, it was fantastic! We love having sugar in bulk on the table, too. It saves us from ripping small packages all over our table! đ Their menu is set up for gluten-freeish & gluten-free, and I ordered the two breakfast tacos with fresh fruit and added a gluten-free waffle! It was fantastic and highly recommended. Was so yummy & will order again! Another order was the churro waffle(not GF), and she added eggs/cob-smoked bacon & fresh fruit. Was excellent, and we found the fresh fruit was a generous mix(strawberries/pineapple/mango/blueberries/cantaloupe/honeydew) the next order was chicken fried steak(not GF) was very good but he didn't like the spicy gravy(his personal preference) . This experience was the best, and we will return to this location! Emily took Very good care of us, and she was busy! She even gave us some awesome coffee to go! Thank you for the great experience and...
Read moreMy husband and I had lunch at the regency location. We chose to sit at the counter because all empty tables were filled with dirty dishes. The counter also had not been cleaned after previous customers so waited for the server to clean a spot for us which she did. There were other customers also sitting at the counter that clearly were done eating but had to sit with all of their dirty dishes in front of them. While waiting for our food we looked at over full trash cans, open cabinet doors and the counters beyond where people sit in disarray. Not tidy or clean in any way. The atmosphere was very uninviting from the time you walk in the door. The lights are so bright you felt like you were walking into a Waffle House. The eating area in the sun room was also a mess. Dirty dishes on all tables. We were very disappointed in the condition of the restaurant. We almost left but needed to be somewhere so our time was limited. I hope you take this constructive feedback and make much needed improvements. Residents that live in that part of Omaha expect much more...
