Last night we went to Edge of the Universe and absolutely fell in love! This coffee bar by day and cocktail lounge by night is an absolute dream! We spoke to the lovely owners (who just got engaged yesterday!!!) and they gave us the low-down: Right now Edge of the Universe is fairytale-themed and deemed “Happily Ever After.” From the furniture, decor, and music to the specialty cocktail menu - everything is a fairytale! The theme will change every few months. Happily Ever After is currently set to run through the fall, followed by Starry Starry Night in the winter, and then Hawaiian Surf Shack in the spring. Each theme will be created by a local artist and support a local charity. How cool is that?!?! This newly engaged couple took over the Benson tenant space with the intention to open this concept in March. Obviously this got delayed because of Covid. They’ve been paying on the space for months and finally opened the venue on Friday. They said they were busy for coffee during the day. Many of the people had heard of them on Facebook from Omaha Food Lovers!!! But all of Benson was an absolute ghost town last night. We were the only patrons there at 10:30pm. While we were there we ordered the “Stay Out if the Forest” cocktail (chocolate liquor, bourbon, RumChata), “The Poison Apple” cocktail (gin, apple cider, lemon juice, bitters, cinnamon), and the chocolate and berry cheesecake bites! All of it I would absolutely get again! This is absolutely not a place to be missed! There’s nothing else like it in Omaha, and the owners were an absolute delight to speak with. Go check them out for coffee, a cocktail, or a sweet baked treat! And tell them you heard about them on OFL!

Magical, whimsical, wonderful unique spot to grab your favorite beverage whether it’s coffee or a more adult beverage. They have interesting decor throughout the place, many spots to sit, some bar seating, and a great environment to just hang out and enjoy your drink.

Walking into this enchanted forest themed cafe was such an experience. Between the fun menu and bonus menu to the golden ceiling or fairy tail tree against the wall, it's a great hang out place. The owners have done a great job to make the place covid safe, our booth walls were so high you couldn't see any other customers. There were hepa filters between all the tables and bottles of hand sanitizer at our seat. The drinks and food are definitely something I am already looking forward to going back to enjoying. They have a variety of cafe and liquor drinks, even saw someone drinking a Truly. I had their butterbeer, which could be spiked or non alcoholic. They also make their drinks strong! The food was amazing, we ordered the large charcuterie board, a creme brulee (unpictured because we were too excited to dig in), and the Mac and cheese board. This place is a highly recommended. We talked with the owners, who are a great couple and they shared some of the history about the place. We were most interested in the old books they had lying around. Very friendly, very cozy, and very delicious cafe!

I’m not too sure how to feel about my visit lol I keep looking back and it was very bizarre. I did show up late and was very appreciative that they made an accommodation to stay open and serve me and my siblings. But we only really felt welcome by the man working on December 10th, the women who helped us kind of seemed like they were annoyed at us for being there, which I do understand it was past hours, but they simply could have not served us if they were going to act standoffish over it. The 3 of us just ordered hot chocolates. When my brother and sister showed me their cups I noticed they didn’t fill them all the way but I figured that was just how they portion it. When I got mine I opened it, mine wasn’t full either and I saw something green sitting at the top. When I asked what it was the woman told me what I ordered in what I feel was a snarky tone. I showed her the cup and asked for it to be remade and she said it probably fell off the wreath they had hanging. When she was making my second one I noticed her steaming the milk twice. I used to be a barista and know that most machines only steam 10 oz of milk at a time without overflowing, but it takes 10 seconds to steam a second round of milk. Well sure enough I got my second cup back completely full which tells me that’s what they were supposed to do with the other ones but I can only assume they didn’t want to do the “extra work.” And overall both women just made me feel like I couldn’t be there. The man who was working however was super friendly and kind and I want to recognize his service because he talked to us throughout our visit and shared different events they host and such, he was super sweet. And it is such a pretty place but I don’t know that I’ll be returning because I believe in doing good for people and that’s not very much the impression I got...

I came here for the Princess Day they were hosting. This was my first time visiting. I like that the theme changes and it’s never the same thing, I believe it’s a Hawaiian theme right now. While it was a little busy because of all the other visiting families with their kids, it was a little confusing. I thought there would be a menu with the themed drinks, but found only their “regular menu”. It wasn’t very helpful or clear. My daughter wasn’t sure what to order, so she ordered a “frozen hot chocolate.” I had believed it would be blended, it was just on ice, so basically it was strawberry milk with ice, whipped cream and sprinkles on top. She enjoyed it and said it was great. I got a simple iced latte and we shared 3 macrons. The price was actually pretty expensive. More expensive than Starbucks. The 3 macrons were 10.50
and both drinks, which were probably smalls, were $6 a piece. I felt that was a little high for what we got. The staff was super friendly and sweet. They did everything absolutely awesome and seem like sweet people. I don’t think I would visit again. I cool idea in theory, but with the prices and confusion,...
