Dinner at @Fizzy’s Fountain & Liquors in Omaha, NE #foodies #foodreview #restaurant #dining #foodtiktok

Holy smokes, Fizzy's is a jem of a jem in Omaha! From the creative minds behind Nite Owl comes this wonder.. Where to even start? From the moment you walk in you are transported back to a different time, a brief reprieve from real life for a moment. The best way to describe it is 50's or 60's diner with some modern flair. The design details of this restaurant are impeccable; color schemes, carpeting, booths, details in the menu and more! Who ever chose the music tonight was on point! All of the music was fitting to the theme of the restaurant. It really gives something special when you can vibe with the music of your dining establishment. We haven't even started to talk about the food which is on another level. Just to touch on safety for a moment. All staff wears a mask and there is social distancing. They also offer a pick up option. In our current world of COVID they take the utmost care of their patrons, even down to how your order which is so neat in its own right! You have a phone at your booth that you place your order through! Folks the adult shakes and cocktails are strong in the best way! I appreciate that they use a local ice cream shop (Coneflower) for their adult shakes, that is a huge plus in my book. The menu had a few throwbacks to the old school way of things such as a fried bologna sandwich and pimento cheese frenchie sandwiches but with subtle twists. We had the deviled egg appetizer and the crispy chicken skin added another level to the common holiday favorite snack. I had the pimento frenchie with red pepper jelly and it did knock my socks off! The creamy, crunchy, sweetness is everything. It did come with pickled veggies which helped lift the sandwich. My partner got the duck pot pie. The puff pastry crust on top was perfectly flakey and buttery. The gravy inside was savory, rich, and seasoned to excellence! The star of this feast was the lemon meringue pie. Now I'm not talking out of the box pie. This was handcrafted with love and passion! The crust was rolled out sturdy and had a great structure and it still flaked to a buttery finish. The lemon curd base was had an incredible balance of sweet and tart and a smooth texture. So meringue is hard to nail to this level of skill that was presented. It was shiny and held its peaks with no separation and the texture was of loose marshmallow. What made the experience even better was the woman who made this heavenly dessert was working and I got to nerd out about baking for a few moments before we left. We cannot wait to come back again!

This was a fun night out! I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. I'll let you, the reader, decide. Unique and small were the keywords of the night. You get to order on a phone on the wall! You push the button like the really old days and the fantastic staff take your order. We may or may not have arm wrestled for who got to call in our order. The person closest to the phone won. The menu is small but the food has some unique offerings. The drink menu has unique options that were super tasty albeit small for the price. It was a unique place to meet with friends but small groups are your only option. We had 5 people in one of the big booths and that was a good fit. 6 would have been too much. The unique decor takes all of the small things into account. I bet it was super fun to shop for! We had several entrees and no one complained about what they ordered. On a review advice, an order of “not a small plate” nachos was shared by four of us. We opted for no meat. While heavy on the cilantro, they were tasty. Pimento cheese is showcased in two different choices. Both were a hit. Save room for dessert! They have a great white birthday cake complete with sprinkles. Small scoops of Coneflower ice cream added balance to the other more unique dessert choices. Other things to know: - The music volume is on the loud side. We accepted the challenge and just talked louder, but it was apparent. It was really good music though. - The food and drinks come out when they come out. It isn't all served together. It comes out hot and tasty though. Just don't use the manners your parents taught you about waiting until everyone is served to start eating. Someone's food will get cold. - Parking is kind of hard to negotiate. But you get that in lots of places. - Google maps tells you where the place is but you would miss it if you didn't know. The signage is lacking. - Mobility access is difficult as it is in an older building. A wheelchair or scooter would be very hard to do. I forgot to look out front for accessible parking. - The bathroom has an awful awful smell. It looks clean and all so it is probably just a plumbing issue but it was really bad. All in all it was a great night. We spent three hours talking and drinking and eating and talking and laughing and I think we'd all go back. Thanks Fizzy's.

Such a fun first-time experience at Fizzy's Fountain & Liquors last night!!!

The retro diner vibe inside was full force - huge (boozy) milkshakes, hearty portions of food, and placing an order from a wall-mounted corded telephone was a whole throwback experience and we loved every minute of it.

I got one of the “Banana Dolphin’s Foster Parents” boozy shakes to start. The drink is made with aged rum, dark rum, salted caramel, banana, and coneflower vanilla ice cream. And they definitely didn’t skimp on the rum! It’s topped with a super cute dolphin cut banana peaking out the top with a delicious dark cherry in its mouth. Every bit of it was delightful!

For my meal I got the double cheeseburger and added bacon and an egg and a side of fries. The egg was a perfect over easy and the burger cooked to a perfect medium. My S.O. got the fried chicken sandwich and it was crispy, juicy, and saucy. It’s hard to say whether I liked the burger or chicken sandwich better... We definitely should’ve just swapped halves so I could have the best of both!

The only improvement I could see in our food was the ranch. We got some to dip our fries in and it was pretty watery and overpowered with pepper. But that’s such a small critique in the whole of our overall fantastic experience. I just love me some ranch!

The service was also absolutely great. The waiters and bartenders were so friendly despite being so busy. The tables were seated every other which is also awesome on their part with how busy they were. The food and boozy shakes were perfectly in keeping with the tone of the environment, and really the ambience and experience was just everything. We’ll...
