My fiancée and I stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant was about 1/3 full, and staff was very attentive. Our server was almost perfect. He knew when to check in on us, and when to leave us alone. The chips they start you off with are nicely toasted, warm but not hot, and the salsa is something special. It lets you know you're in for a positive dining experience.
They have SUSHI!, and so we opted for two rolls as an appetizer. A succinct balance between Japanese-style sushi and fusion with Mexican Riviera! We tore through those rolls like we hadn't had food for a week. And both rolls were more than 10 pieces.
Main courses we chose to share were the blue crab enchilada, and the shrimp and octopus fajitas. I think I would rate their crab enchilada up there with the 5 best seafood entrées I've ever eaten. A creamy but peppery sauce, fresh red onions over the top, and a near-perfect balance of REAL crab, tomato, and spices as filling. Definitely recommended.
The fajitas also were delicious. Just the right amount of char without burning the vegetables. Three different bell peppers: yellow, red, and green. The onions were thin cut, almost like slaw, which took on a unique position in the mix. I'm not generally a big fan of corn tortillas, so that wasn't my favorite part. (That's just me though.)But it came with Mexican rice on the side as well. Scooping the filling in with the rice was a more than satisfactory delivery method for me.
We couldn't quite finish our entrées, so we got them boxed to take away. Before that, though, we ordered some of their shrimp empanadas to go for consumption with our leftovers for dinner. I'm just now finishing, and I can say that it was almost as good reheated as it was at the restaurant.
Quality seafood in Omaha, and total price of the bill for us was less than $75 before tip? That's a winning combination, and one we'll definitely go to experience again. I recommend you try it too.
Edit: since our experience we have ordered delivery through Doordash from them and come back a second time to eat. Both experiences were as good as the first. Absolutely deserving...
Read moreI have been here many times since. For the most part they have remained consistent. If you want octopus DO NOT order the molcajete mar and go for the other grilled octopus. There was only 2 small pieces in the whole bowl which was odd to me since everything else was so generous. Best dishes are octopus (I believe both pulpo options were good) and the ceviche dish aguachile mixto. Cucumber Fresca is what I usually get to drink. Their pricing for drinks is pretty good too. Generally the prices are good with generous portions.
Initial visit
We had heard great things about this Mexican Seafood Restaurant and it met our expectations.
It was the first time I heard of Mexican sushi. I am a former partner of a Japanese restaurant in my home city, so I was curious to see how they did theirs.
First off, there was tortillas and salsa on the table when I got there to meet my friends. My friend ordered a diet coke. It's in a can, but he was given a large Mason jar with ice. That made me wonder to their drinks. We got a cucumber drink that was also in a large jar and it was something that I'm craving now that I'm home.
The menu was a lot larger than I expected with some pretty impressive items. The presentation is wild, served in a grandiose way. A most instagrammable restaurant indeed
They have a number of ceviche items. We ended up with 3 different orders. I had just been to another restaurant with overcooked octopus and was happy to find that none of this was rubbery. I will update this with the list of items we ordered when my friend gives me the names.
My friend warned me about a possible longer wait time as they prepare everything fresh in the back. Our wait time today didn't appear too long, but we were talking a lot and didn't notice the time.
Parking is available in a large lot. Tables inside are spaced fairly far apart compared to other places I've seen recently.
They also had a food truck just outside the door. I'm not sure if it was open and running but it almost looked like it was when we...
Read moreHave been coming here since they opened and they have lost a loyal customer. We have spent hundreds of dollars here and tonight was very disappointing. The birria we ordered came out spicy. We expressed this to who I assume was a supervisor ( she never introduced herself) our waiter was never available we had to ask others for help. My husband was not able to eat his burrito with how spicy it was I was able to finish one taco and I was done with it. The supervisor has the audacity to take our food to the back and then come back to us and say. We tasted the meat and it was not spicy, the salsa is spicy. My husband had put some salsa on his however I had not. I’m other words they called us liars. Oh.. and the they said we had to pay for it because there was nothing wrong with the food. Excuse me we are letting you know we can’t eat what you served and yet we have to pay for it????!!!! She would not take the charge of the ticket and kept repeating her nonsense, even after we offered to buy 2 more alternatives that the cost was higher than our original order. They obviously don’t care to satisfy their loyal customers. To top it off the waiter decided she was going to add in the 15% gratuity. Which equaled out over $30. We were 5 adults and a child. She lied to me and said if there are 5 or more ppl they automatically charge the gratuity. First of all she lied to my face according to the law it is 6 ppl or more. She charged our card without even letting me see the bill.. THEY CALL THEIR CUSTOMERS LIARS AND STEAL THEIR MONEY! I get it restaurants are hurting these days we have always appreciated this place but not no more. VERY DISAPPOINTED. So sad that this was our experience because I LOVE THEIR FOOD SO SAD TO SAY GOODBYE.
We were there for my fathers birthday so we had now problem spending the money. But the...
